Michael Jabbara shared thisThe future of money movement is fast, digital, and borderless, but it can’t come at the cost of control. In my role working with secure and compliant payments infrastructure, I see how cross-border innovation depends on the right foundation: real-time transparency, adherence to evolving local regulations, and optionality across endpoints. This article highlights how smart infrastructure, like Visa Direct, is driving inclusion, transparency, and trust at scale: https://lnkd.in/giqC25ye

Michael Jabbara shared thisIt was great talking to Claire Cameron and Inc. Magazine about how Visa's Scam Disruption (VSD) helps protect consumers and small businesses globally. When we launched VSD in March of this year, we detected about $300M in scam-related transactions across the network. Today, we’ve surpassed $1 billion in scams identified and disrupted — stepping up our protection as the scammers step up their attacks.Michael Jabbara shared thisSecurity experts at Visa are warning of a surge in scams targeting entrepreneurs looking to create and market their businesses online. AI is absolutely involved in this upsurge. In a new blog post released today, Visa revealed that its in-house Visa Scam Disruption service has identified and stopped more than $1 billion in fraud attempts in the last year alone — and small businesses and entrepreneurs are not immune. I spoke to Michael Jabbara, Visa’s Global Head of Fraud Services, to find out how they are taking down these scams. One of the things he told me is that no one should have any preconceptions about who is at risk of being scammed — everyone is a target. Including you and me. To find out more, I spoke to security experts, including a former FBI special agent, to find out what red flags someone who is looking to start or grow their online business needs to know, and how to better arm against these attacks even as AI makes them harder to spot. One simple way would-be entrepreneurs can protect themselves from these kinds of scams is to slow down, a technique one expert called “slow thinking.” “It’s the old Spidey sense of, is this good too good to be true?” Read more at my latest story in Inc. Michael Jabbara shared thisCross-border money movement brings global reach and global responsibility. From sanctions screening to fraud monitoring and privacy standards, compliance isn’t just a box to check, it’s a full-time function. In this article, my colleague, Richard Meszaros outlines the legal and regulatory minefields that trip up even experienced teams—and how Visa Direct helps simplify secure, transparent global payments across 190+ markets. The cost of getting it wrong is too high. Let’s get it right together: https://lnkd.in/gnB98euC.

Michael Jabbara shared thisRisk and regulation are top of mind for every leader I work with—especially as cross-border transactions scale. With $3.5T in remittances expected this year alone, the stakes have never been higher. At Visa, we’re focused on building trusted infrastructure with Visa Direct—helping institutions reduce risk exposure, enhance transparency and maintain compliance across markets. If safeguarding your business while scaling globally is a priority, let’s connect. Review the full data in the infographic: https://lnkd.in/gSXCcSSW and explore how Visa can support you.

Michael Jabbara shared thisSpeed, scale, and transparency are no longer nice-to-haves, they’re the new standard. But as banks move to modernize global payments, the challenge is doing so without increasing complexity or compliance risk. At Visa, we’ve built Visa Direct to help institutions stay competitive and secure. With streamlined access to a trusted global payments ecosystem, banks can meet evolving customer needs while staying ahead of regulatory demands. This article explains how: https://lnkd.in/gfg_gZkk

Michael Jabbara shared thisDid you know suspected fraudulent transactions jumped by 85% during the 2024 holiday season? It’s a constant battle, but at Visa, we’re committed to protecting users with cutting-edge technology and deep expertise. Visa’s new Scam Disruption Practice detected over $650 million in scams just this year, and our AI-powered tools are working around the clock—like an invisible shield against hackers. But the threats keep evolving: from deepfakes to “pig butchering” scams, fraudsters are weaponizing the latest tech. That’s why we’re relentlessly innovating and investing in security so buyers and sellers know they’re safe using Visa. Curious how we’re staying ahead of the curve? Or want to learn how AI and next-gen tech are changing the fraud landscape? Check out the full article for more insights: https://lnkd.in/gZW2rUYD

Michael Jabbara shared thisSecurity isn’t a value-add anymore—it’s table stakes. In our latest global study, 88% of consumers said they expect robust safety features as standard, and 1 in 5 have abandoned cross-border payments due to negative experiences like fraud or delays. As someone focused on trust and transparency in the payments ecosystem, I believe this moment demands more from us. The following white paper breaks down the risk factors, behavioral trends, and technology gaps we must solve to protect both users and reputations. Michael Jabbara reacted on thisMichael Jabbara reacted on thisAfter nearly six incredible years at Visa, it’s (surprisingly) time for a new chapter. Making the decision to leave a place that has profoundly shaped who I am professionally and personally was not easy. I joined Visa just a few months out of undergrad, wide-eyed and eager, stepping into the leadership rotational program not knowing exactly where I’d land. What followed was more than I could’ve imagined. I’ve had the chance to work on initiatives that reached across the globe, support causes and communities I care deeply about, and challenge systems in ways that stretched me. I earned a master's degree, traveled, and most importantly I found purpose in my work. But more than the projects or milestones, it’s the people who made all the difference. I’ve been deeply blessed to work under some of the most thoughtful, brilliant, and kind leaders. I want to thank my managers and mentors throughout the years who poured into me, trusted me, and helped me find my voice. (Joanne Tsui, David Whitelaw, Cecilia Hammond, Michael Jabbara, Robert Meloche, Michelle Gethers, Carl Manlan, Graham Macmillan, Chukwudi (Chuk) Onike, Shelby Rose Williams, Delores Terry) Each of you have shaped how I show up in the world. I’ve learned from your leadership, your integrity, your generosity, and your boldness. To the teammates who collaborated with me and the friends who supported me through every season, thank you. You reminded me that purpose and people go hand in hand. I am who I am today because I got to grow beside you all. Though I’ve stepped away from Visa, I carry everything I’ve learned into this next season. I’ll be sharing more about what’s next soon, but for now, I’m simply grateful for the journey, the memories, and the community that made it all so meaningful. #lifeatvisa

From tokens, which replace a card number with a cryptographic key, to an incidence response team that works around the clock to identify fraudulent patterns of data usage, to masking data when making a checkout, keeping data secure is a key part of how we do business. Michael Jabbara reacted on thisMichael Jabbara reacted on thisWhat a pleasure to host some of Australia's top risk professionals last week at our offices in Sydney alongside Michael Jabbara, Stefaan D'Hoore, Martyna Lazar and Tiziana Bianco. We previewed our Australian Security Roadmap for 2025-2028, discussed some of the most pressing cybersecurity threats the payment ecosystem is facing, and shared our strategies for preventing and minimising the impact of fraud and scams today and tomorrow. There were a lot of insights shared, but a couple of things have really stuck with me... Firstly, as a global network, we see variations in scams (what we might call authorised fraud) across different regions, but one thing they have in common is that they consistently target fundamental human needs, whether that’s companionship or job security. There’s no single patch that can be deployed for these kinds of vulnerabilities, so Visa is focused on identifying and dismantling the malicious infrastructure that enables cybercriminals to carry out such attacks, using our AI-powered solutions and threat intelligence data. Secondly, quantum computing. Researchers believe quantum computing will be able to crack the many secure forms of cryptography used today to obtain sensitive consumer information and that these threat actors are already conducting ‘Harvest-Now, Decrypt-Later’ attacks. Visa’s global Payment Fraud Disruption team recommends staying current on news about quantum-safe encryption and being sure to transition to new encryption methods, once implemented, so that consumer and business information remains protected against compromise. The latest edition of Visa's Global Biannual Threats Report is also out this month for those interested in an overview of the top payments ecosystem threats from the past six months - a fascinating read! https://lnkd.in/gsyJnZUS

Michael Jabbara reacted on thisMichael Jabbara reacted on thisAt Visa, we're continuously assessing the Australian payment security landscape to stay ahead of emerging threats and spot new opportunities for innovation. Every few years, we consolidate these insights into a comprehensive Security Roadmap - and this week, Nicholas Chia and I were excited to preview the latest edition at our Visa Spotlight Event, Navigating New Frontier of Risk. With our Global Head of Payment Ecosystem Risk and Control Michael Jabbara and our Asia Pacific Regional Risk Officer Stefaan D'Hoore by our side, we shared both global and regional insights on the shifting risk landscape and discussed the future of fraud prevention and cyber defense with our clients. A big thank you to our clients for your active engagement and thoughtful questions, and to Michael and Stefaan who traveled from afar to make this week so impactful! It's been a privilege to host you here. To those who helped make this week happen – thank you for the support! Ps. with a jam-packed agenda, our guests didn't have much time to explore Sydney and Melbourne, so there's still plenty of sightseeing left for their next trip! #riskmanagement #fraudprevention #cybersecurity #securityroadmap
