Working in partnerships (whether it’s influencer, affiliate, or content creation) has always been more than building programs or driving results. At its core, it’s about building real relationships. Getting to connect with people outside of my day to day, learning their stories, understanding what motivates them, how to support them, and finding ways to grow together… that’s the most rewarding part of what I do. Because the best partnerships don’t feel transactional. They feel like a shared goal, a shared mission, and a genuine sense of being on the same team. People like you are the reason this work is so fulfilling!Xaria Kirtikar reacted on thisI don't really like affiliate programs. Most of them are only as good as the platform running them. And most platforms weren't built for culture. Automated intake, generic welcome email, link, and commission rate. The system handles everything, so the human part is skipped entirely. You end up with hundreds of partners and zero sense of belonging. That's not always the brand's fault. A lot depends on the available tools, the program's structure, and the resources behind it. Sometimes you can't jump above your head even if you want to. But last year, I learned that the real work starts after the platform ends. Not all brands are built for family-style partnerships. Not every program needs to be. But the ones that create something beyond a transaction are built by managers who choose to show up differently, regardless of what the system allows. I was an affiliate at Fi, a program with hundreds of influencers. It should have felt like a transaction, but it didn't. That was because of Lily Wagner. She reached out, checked in regularly, and was genuinely interested in helping every partner succeed, not just tracking whether they did. She made every partner feel like part of one team working toward the same goal. And commission stopped being the main thing that made people promote. Somewhere inside that experience, everything clicked for me. I know exactly the kind of partnership program I'm building, and I know exactly who showed me it was possible. Most experienced developers are pricing themselves out of opportunities. Not because they're asking for too much money. Because they're not asking strategically. I see developers with 5+ years of experience applying for $80k roles when they should be targeting $150k positions. Why? They're scared of rejection. They think they need "more experience." They underestimate their market value. But here's what I've learned after working with developers across all levels and continents.: The biggest career risk isn't aiming too high. It's aiming too low. When you consistently apply for roles below your level: - You get pigeonholed at that salary range - You attract companies that undervalue talent - You reinforce your own limiting beliefs - You miss out on growth opportunities The developers I work with who land $100k-$200k jobs have one thing in common: They apply for roles that feel slightly uncomfortable. Not impossible. Just uncomfortable. They stretch for positions that require 80% of their skills and force them to grow into the remaining 20%. This is exactly how I achieved senior level at 3.5 years. I applied for roles that scared me a little bit. That forced me to rise to the occasion. That positioned me among high-performers instead of settling for average. Companies pay premium salaries for developers who can grow into bigger challenges. Not developers who want to stay comfortable doing what they've always done. Your comfort zone is your career killer.
