Exercise: Needs

- Look back at the wounds brainstorm you did in the last exercise. Are any ideas or details standing out to you as your favorites? The most interesting? The most engaging? The most unique? For this next exercise, I'd like you to choose one of the wounds you brainstormed, or if you only have one, that's fine, and start to think about what need could have resulted from it. How has that wound shaped the character's life thus far? For example, with the business woman who doesn't talk to her mother, let's say we decided that a defining moment in her past was the day her mother failed to show up at the piano recital, which eventually became a wound of neglect. This wound could easily turn into a need to feel important or a need to be praised, because her mother wasn't there on that special day to give that praise to the character. Now it's your turn.
