- As a manager, I was always looking for ways to be more effective with my time. While my initial goal was to spend more time on strategic work and delegate the day-to-day tasks to others, I soon realized delegating became a way to build trust with my employees. It also benefited them, because it increased their opportunity to grow within the organization. By practicing commitment conversations, I found there are different levels of confidence and trust needed while delegating. In the end, it's up to you to grasp the situation and determine the level of freedom you delegate, which usually is a combination of the level of experience of the person and the complexity of the task. To help you consider how to delegate, let's look at five trust level examples. Level one, where little to no trust exists.
