From the course: Running Live Events and Webinars with Microsoft Teams

What you will need

If you're going to work along with me in this course, then there are only a couple of things that you're going to need. First, you'll need Microsoft Teams. But if you're used to running Teams in a browser or on a mobile device only, this is the time that you need to download the Microsoft Teams desktop app. And I am doing all these demonstrations in the new version of Microsoft Teams. New as of the winter of 2023/2024. If you have a couple of versions of Teams on your computer, this is the one with the icon with the little blue new text added to it. Additionally, you need to have the right type of licensing. So Microsoft Teams Enterprise licensing E1, E3, or E5 or Microsoft 365 Education A1 or A5 license. There's one more thought here. If you open Microsoft Teams and you click the "New meeting" button, hopefully, you will see that you can schedule a webinar or a town hall. If these are not present, they may be turned off by your IT department. The most frequent choice that is made is to allow you to create town halls, but not webinars. But if either or both of these are missing, but you have virtual appointment and content controlled meeting, then you'll know that it's time to have a talk with your IT department to see if they'll turn a feature on for a short period of time so that you can work along with me in this course. Do not worry if you do not see live event at the end of your list, particularly if you're viewing this course after September of 2024, because at that time, live events will be removed and replaced by town halls. So make sure you have Teams, make sure that you have the correct licensing, and that you have the correct permissions granted to you by your organization's IT department so that you can work along with me to create structured meetings.
