Giving an agent too many tools doesn’t always make it smarter. Sometimes it just makes it slower. 🐢 So we trimmed GitHub Copilot's default toolset from 40 down to 13. The result? ⚡️ 400ms faster responses 📈 2-5% higher success rates Here's how we optimized the system. ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/gG5SawA2

What's going on with your ratelimits lately? Even with last-gen small models, and like 10 minutes of usage in a single chat?? Just take my money!!!!

GitHub 🚀 This is a fantastic illustration of the "Less is More" principle in agentic design. I believe this strategic reduction, driven by performance data, is the clearest path to optimized developer ROI. Great optimization work! ✅ #GitHub #Copilot #DataAnalytics #AI #USA

Fewer, well-routed tools clearly beat a bloated toolbox in both speed and reliability. The only downside is that too many teams still keep piling tools on their agents, which just increases latency and inconsistency instead of real capability.

Great optimization. GitHub choosing precision over tool bloat is exactly how agent systems become faster and more reliable.
