Isar Aerospace’s Post

The next generation of space capability won't be built by one company alone.   From a university project to Continental Europe’s first commercial launch company to successfully deliver satellites to orbit, Isar Aerospace has become one of Europe’s most critical space assets. Together with the team, Isar Aerospace co-founders Josef Fleischmann and Daniel Metzler developed Spectrum from scratch into an orbit-ready launch vehicle at the speed the market demands.   Now Co-Founder Josef Fleischmann is handing over his operational responsibilities at Isar Aerospace to found Bavaria Instruments, a company focused on developing in-orbit computing technologies.   Can Araz, with Isar Aerospace since its founding and most recently Vice President ‘Spectrum’, will assume his responsibilities as Chief Technology Officer. Patrick Adcock, Vice President Global Operations, will lead the continued scaling of production.   Josef will remain closely connected to Isar Aerospace. As COO and CTO Josef was instrumental in contributing to the company’s engineering and production capabilities. From the first sketches to launch hardware, factories, and launch operations, he has left his mark across Isar Aerospace and the European space ecosystem. Thank you, Josef, for everything. Taking hardware from first sketches into production builds experience that is hard to replicate. Great to see that experience feeding a new venture while the Spectrum team keeps scaling.

What stands out here is how much of this story is really about building the right team around ambitious technology. Exciting transition for everyone involved!

Absolutely. This is one of those moments where a departure can actually be a sign of strength. Isar Aerospace has grown from a university project into critical European space infrastructure — and now one of its founders takes that experience and starts building the next layer of the ecosystem. That’s how real clusters are born: capability doesn’t stay in one company. It multiplies. From launch vehicles to in-orbit computing — what a journey, Josef. And what a statement for European New Space. The strongest sign of an ecosystem isn’t one great company. It’s when greatness starts reproducing itself.

Josef Fleischmann best COO/CTO I ever met! Good luck for your new adventure🤙 All the best for you

Exciting to see a new company taking on in-orbit computing, especially with the experience of building Isar behind it. Looking forward to seeing what comes next.
