👨💻 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝘆 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗝𝗶𝗿𝗮 𝗽𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝘂𝗽 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿! As part of the Overclock Accelerator, I submitted my first pull request to Plane, an open source alternative to Jira. My contribution was a global keyboard shortcut system that makes creating issues faster and more efficient. ✨ 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁:  • ⌘+I / Ctrl+I to create issues instantly (“I” for Issue)  • Smart focus detection that ignores shortcuts while typing  • Cross-platform support with smooth, throttled performance  • Clean event-driven architecture that separates logic from UI 💡 𝗕𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲: The hardest part wasn’t writing code but getting the project running locally. Working through environment setup and navigating a large, unfamiliar codebase taught me how real-world engineering works and gave me the confidence to contribute to complex projects. 🧠 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗜 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝗶𝘁:  • 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗠𝗶𝘅 packaged the codebase into an LLM-readable format for quick analysis.  • 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁𝟳 delivered updated docs to improve AI-generated suggestions.  • 𝗚𝗶𝘁𝗛𝘂𝗯 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗞𝗶𝘁 guided feature planning with clear specs and steps. 📚 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱: 1️⃣ AI is only as powerful as the context you provide it. 2️⃣ Strong planning and clear specifications make development more efficient. 3️⃣ Open source contributions build real engineering skills beyond just writing code. This milestone marked a significant step forward in my development journey. It also marked a major learning moment in the Overclock program, where each week builds on the last. We’ve been using GitHub for years and watched it evolve alongside our projects. With the rise of LLMs, one thing has become clear — giving the team the right tools at the right time is crucial. To test their limits, I tried setting up a monorepo with both backend and frontend, connected via gRPC protocol for service-to-service communication.
