Microsoft recently announced changes to the default meeting settings for #Copilot. Likely starting now for some, Copilot WITHOUT transcription will be the default for new meetings. It's an interesting turn of events for those of us who have been through rounds of debates with security & risk managers about the risk transcripts pose and with users about the value of Copilot as a meeting assistant without transcription or post-meeting capability. And now it seems we're taking the path of lesser risk, which hopefully will lead to some higher adoption for those risk averse orgs and also get more focus on improvement to the in-meeting functionality. Before you get too excited: this isn't going to fix you forgetting to get notes before the meeting ends. But you will be able to switch between chat and Copilot without losing your Copilot convo, and that's a small win. And we'll be getting back the previously short-lived ability to turn Copilot (and transcription) off mid-meeting. #progress! I think this marks a shift in Microsoft's expectations for Copilot use in meetings. What's everyone else think about this one?

🤔 We asked staff at #CalderIT to share what they liked, from the IT world and why. Today we have the first offering from James Allatt. We all know he likes the #Microsoft365 universe, but what in particular has he been really enjoying using? 🌟 #Copilot! Copilot is an #AI-powered tool developed by Microsoft that assists with tasks such as drafting emails, summarising documents, generating reports, and even answering questions based on enterprise data. It’s designed to boost productivity by reducing manual effort and improving accuracy. James says he likes it because it saves him time and helps him stay organised. Whether he's catching up on emails, preparing meeting notes, or troubleshooting IT issues, Copilot gives him a head start and reduces the need to switch between tools. ❓ Who would he recommend it to? "I’d recommend Copilot to #ITManagers, support teams, and anyone in a fast-paced role who deals with a lot of documentation, communication, or data. It’s especially useful for businesses that rely heavily on Microsoft 365 and want to streamline workflows."

Access to shared and delegated mailboxes is coming to Microsoft 365 Copilot enabling licensed users to gain greater value from Outlook data through Copilot chat scenarios. This will be a valuable addition and fills a gap in Copilot's capabilities for many users with responsibilities for monitoring or using mailboxes outside of their own. Email content continues to be one of the most important Copilot grounding sources for many work processes, so it is encouraging to see this change which will support how more people actually work day-to-day without having to step outside the flow of work. As always, Copilot will follow existing permissions, so this change only impacts those who have access to or subsequently gain access to a shared or delegated mailbox. The updates are listed to have completed by late September, so should now be available. See MC1162968 and MC1162967 in Microsoft 365 message for more information 🖼️ from Microsoft 365 message center

2wI'm all for more secure meetings, but I do think it's interesting that this isn't that big of a topic for those companies leveraging Zoom instead of Teams. I guess I'd have to do a bit more homework, but that's my initial observation.
