lol you guys remember when we laughed at Google Wave for trying to replace email with one unified, structured thing? and now we replaced it with Slack chaos and Google Docs comment soup? Classic us amirite
being early is the same as being wrong
I was such a huge fan of Google Wave. RIP
Truth. I didn't grok google wave - it felt 'off'. Too early? Faulty pitch? Dan is an idiot?
I remain confounded that maps, weather, calendar, and clock are not one integrated app in any ecosystem.
I'm not sure the Google Wave to Slack comparison is very even; not saying it's Apples to Oranges, but still a little Apples to Pears, IMHO. I feel like Slack was snuck into our workflow; they started with serialized IRC over a web/mobile interface and then added the feature-bloat that we, I'm sure we'll all agree, accept _begrudgingly_. Personally, I'd much rather have a strip down version of the chat so that we refocus on email. I remember telling people I had this opinion as far back as 2015 when our shop used Atlassian's Stride (HipChat).
I loved the icons of people and their different colours all over documents. Sad it didn't take off
I actually really liked Google Wave back then. I think it “failed” (from Google’s POV) precisely for being a calmer media (not enough engagement and ads generated for them)
Not gonna lie, I was a big fan of Wave. 💯 are with others that it was ahead of it's time. I wish that the intern that worked on that 20% idea has started an AI company for that by now...
Don't forget Confluence comment goop :)

2wWave was way ahead of its time. Jon Tirsen was leading the tech for that iirc and he totally got it.
