Many congratulations to Irtif Lone and the entire JKEDI Entrepreneurship Development Institute, team for organizing ASCEND-an initiative that was truly needed for the innovators and entrepreneurs of Jammu & Kashmir. For a region where access to startup ecosystems, investors, mentors, and industry networks has often been limited, platforms like ASCEND are more than just events. They are opportunities that can change lives. Bringing together entrepreneurs, innovators, policymakers, investors, and ecosystem enablers under one roof is exactly the kind of exposure our startups/aspiring entrepreneurs have long needed. Talent has never been scarce in Kashmir, what has often been missing is access. Opportunities like ASCEND will help bridge that gap by opening new possibilities, and giving local founders the confidence that their ideas deserve a place on the national stage. I sincerely hope this becomes a regular platform and continues to empower many more entrepreneurs from Jammu & Kashmir to dream big.
Every startup ecosystem has defining moments. For Jammu & Kashmir, this felt like one of them. For perhaps the first time, Hon'ble Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah sat across the table with a distinguished group of investors, venture capital leaders, founders, and ecosystem enablers from across India for an open and candid conversation on the future of Startups in J&K. There were no speeches. No presentations. Just an honest exchange of ideas on what it will take to build a globally competitive startup ecosystem, deepen industry participation, attract private capital, strengthen institutions, and ensure that ambitious founders from Jammu & Kashmir can build and scale from here. For years, conversations around J&K have largely been about its challenges. This was different. The conversation was about possibilities. About innovation. About investment. About building the institutions, networks, and confidence that every successful startup ecosystem is founded upon. That, in itself, makes this a watershed moment. The willingness of the Hon'ble Chief Minister to personally engage with the country's leading ecosystem builders and investors, coupled with the commitment shown by those who travelled across India to be part of this dialogue, reflects a shared belief that Jammu & Kashmir is ready for its next chapter. The true success of ASCEND J&K 2026 will not be measured by the conversations we had over two days, but by the companies that raise capital, the founders who find mentors, the partnerships that take shape, and the investments that follow in the months and years ahead. Every thriving ecosystem begins with a few people choosing to believe before everyone else does. I believe this was one of those moments. #ASCENDJK2026 #StartupJK #JammuAndKashmir #Innovation #Entrepreneurship #InvestInJK #StartupEcosystem #BuildingTheFuture
