Crash-Proof Drones Inspired by Woodpeckers A breakthrough in bioinspired engineering has led to drones that don’t panic at impact—they absorb collisions. Engineers modeled these machines after woodpecker skulls, enabling a drone design that cuts impact force by up to 70% through shock-absorbing structures. No longer limited to clean skies, drones built this way could weave through forests, bounce off walls, or crash and recover—turning resilience into their defining feature. https://lnkd.in/ejqATiCV FuturistSpeaker.com

Why climb when you can fly? At Raths, Raths & Johnson, Inc. (RRJ), we’re leveraging drone technology to transform how we inspect buildings—making it safer, faster, and far more cost-effective. In our second article, "Drones Are Changing the Game in Building Inspections," Brian Glover, IT Manager and FAA-certified drone pilot at RRJ, shares why drones can be a better way to conduct building inspections. 🔍 Traditional inspections using scaffolding and lifts can rack up thousands in rental and transportation costs. Add in setup time, terrain challenges, and safety risks—and it’s clear there’s a better way. Enter drones. 🔹 Minimal setup and rapid deployment 🔹 Access hard-to-reach areas with ease 🔹 No added cost for weather delays 🔹 Full facade visibility—without leaving the ground 🔹 3D models & CAD-ready visuals 🔹 Costs as low as 1/3 of traditional methods And the best part? Our inspectors stay safely on the ground while capturing stunningly precise visual data—even for the tallest or most intricate structures. Drones aren’t just a new tool—they’re a strategic upgrade for smarter inspections. 📍 Read the article to see the cost difference for yourself in our side-by-side 📊 breakdown. The new #revolution in Construction….. Walk onto a job site in 2025, and you might see more drones than hard hats. From site inspections to delivering building materials in places too dangerous or difficult for people, drones are rewriting the playbook for construction projects. The benefits are clear: ✅ Faster, safer site surveys ✅ Access to hard-to-reach locations ✅ Reduced labor risks and improved efficiency But here’s the flip side 👇 ⚠️ Safety concerns around crashes and accidents ⚠️ Privacy and regulatory hurdles ⚠️ Reliability questions when handling valuable or heavy materials So the question is: ➡️ Are drones revolutionizing construction, or are we flying too close to danger? This isn’t just about tech, it’s about the future of how we build. Yes or no for drones in construction??? #ConstructionTech #Drones #Innovation #FutureOfWork #SmartConstruction #AI #Engineering #Safety

🚁 Understanding drone payloads: What can your drone carry? As we explore the world of drones, one of the most fascinating aspects is their payload capacity. Whether you're surveying land, delivering packages, or inspecting infrastructure, knowing what your drone can carry opens up a realm of possibilities! 📦🌍 Imagine a construction site where drones deliver tools and materials right when they're needed, boosting efficiency and saving time. Or envision drones equipped with cameras and sensors capturing high-resolution images for environmental research, providing critical data in seconds! The adaptability of drones is truly astounding. Depending on their design, they can typically carry payloads ranging from a few hundred grams to several kilograms. This can include everything from lightweight cameras and sensors to heavy-duty packages for commercial deliveries. Understanding your drone's payload is not just about capacity; it’s about maximizing its potential for your specific needs. 🔍 What innovative uses for drone payloads have you encountered? Share your experiences in the comments! Let’s inspire each other and explore how we can elevate industries with this remarkable technology! 🚀✨ #DronePayload #AerialTechnology #Innovation #DronesInIndustry #FutureOfWork

Practical Tip #4 for battery companies targeting drones: report numbers that matter! A common convention in the battery industry is to report capacity discharge curves at constant C-rates. Unfortunately, drones don’t discharge at a constant current, and capacity is not a useful metric to compare across chemistries. As battery voltage falls, current must increase to sustain constant power to the propulsion system. This means C-rates at the bottom of charge can be twice those at top of charge. Sometimes they can be even higher, since ohmic losses increase rapidly in this regime. A constant power discharge curve that reports energy (x axis) vs voltage (y axis) is better, but still imperfect. That’s because a drone doesn’t land when its battery is truly empty, but rather when a perturbation would lead to a loss of control due to inadequate thrust on one or more rotors. Drones typically are designed with a thrust-to-weight margin of at least 1.5. Because propulsive power increases with T^(3/2), a useful discharge drive cycle is to switch between 1-minute discharges at constant power P and 1-second pulses at constant power 2.25P. (Note: TWR can vary from 1.1 in loitering surveillance craft to 4+ in racing drones, but 1.5 is a good ballpark for most UAS) Providing these curves for various values of P (e.g. 1, 2, 3 and 4 times the rated energy of the cell per hour) allows you to capture the cell’s performance across various categories of UAS, all the way from endurance surveillance multirotors to miniature FPV loitering munitions. What does DroneDeploy actually do? I get this question a lot. And it makes sense! When a company is building across drones, robots, cameras, AI, and more, it can be hard to put us in one box. Here’s the simple truth: DroneDeploy is the operating system for reality capture. 🌍 We deploy the tools of the modern jobsite: ➤ Drones (& Docked Drones) ➤ Robots (& Humanoids) ➤ 360° & Fixed cameras ➤ AI agents ➤ Inspections, Safety, and Progress tracking -all into one platform. Why? Because the world is built in the field, not in spreadsheets. Our objective is to give builders, owners, and operators a living digital record of their projects: always current, always accurate, always accessible. So whether it’s a solar farm, data center, mine, or skyscraper, our customers use DroneDeploy to see, measure, and understand the real world at scale. 👉 The video below highlights just a slice of what we support today. And it’s only growing. At DroneDeploy, we’re not just flying drones, we’re building the future of how the physical world is captured, understood, and acted on. #RealityCapture #AI #ConstructionTech #Drones #Robotics #DigitalTwin

Drones Are Transforming Construction Projects From the Ground Up 🏗️🚁 The more industries drones touch, the more valuable they become. In construction, drones are going far beyond pretty aerial shots: 📍 Site Mapping & Surveys → Real-time maps that help cut project delays and costly rework. 📸 Progress Tracking → Weekly aerial photos for project managers, stakeholders, and investors. 🛠️ Inspections → Roofs, scaffolding, and hard-to-reach areas checked safely from above. 🗂️ 3D Modeling → Digital twins for planning, safety analysis, and better decision-making. The results speak for themselves: lower costs, faster timelines, and safer job sites. And as FAA Part 107 rules evolve, the demand for drone pilots in construction is only going to grow. 💬 If you were managing a project, which drone capability would save you the most time? #DroneSafetySummerSeries #FAA107 #DroneTechnology #DronePilot #ConstructionTechnology #Innovation #FutureOfWork #AerialPhotography #Leadership #TechTrends #Drones #DroneMapping #DigitalTwins #ConstructionInnovation #DroneInspection
