Today, we’re thrilled to launch our Women’s Health Co-Lab, a collaborative philanthropy fund that aims to improve the health and agency of millions of women and girls around the world. With founding support from Melinda French Gates, Jennifer Gates Nassar, Phoebe Gates, and 14 other families, we’ve already mobilized more than $70 million toward our $100 million goal. Created in partnership with Co-Impact, we’re excited to be supporting 22 organizations working to advance maternal health, expand sexual and reproductive health and rights, and end gender-based violence globally. The threats to our climate and climate progress can feel insurmountable, but this #EarthDay, we're highlighting bright spots, like the work being done by the Great Barrier Reef Foundation—an Ocean Co-Lab grantee that is partnering with Traditional Owners to map, monitor, and ultimately restore seagrass in their territories. In Woppabura, a territory around the Keppel Islands, the Foundation is working with Traditional Owners to ensure the safeguarding and proper stewardship of the sea, which is not only an important habitat for dugongs and other sea life but also a spiritual homeland to Indigenous people.

This week, Matti Navellou, head of ICONIQ Impact, joined The Chronicle of Philanthropy to discuss the giving trends we're seeing amongst emerging philanthropists. “A lot of young donors tend to be issue agnostic compared to previous generations. They're more likely to be open to letting the data guide where their money goes...which is very encouraging. [This is why] we set up a cohort model for our collaborative philanthropy funds, where we convene subject matter experts alongside donors for a six-month, in-depth learning journey. By the end of six months, [these philanthropists] end up having a crash course from some of the leading experts in an area." Interested in more insights? Today, we’re honored to announce the 25 grantees of ICONIQ Impact’s Youth Mental Wellbeing Co-Lab—a $112 million collaborative philanthropy fund supporting organizations addressing youth anxiety and depression around the world. For nearly two decades, the mental health and wellbeing of youth globally has been in steady decline. Young people today are three to four times more likely than their parents' generation to suffer from anxiety and depression. Addressing this crisis requires a holistic approach—not just providing individual care but also tackling the systemic and societal factors driving poor mental health. We’re striving to mobilize $200 million to supercharge our grantees efforts. As the horrific wildfires continue to burn in Los Angeles, our thoughts are with everyone in our community and beyond who is affected by this disaster. To help, our employees and the firm itself are contributing to the following organizations that are delivering critical aid to those who are suffering in the region: World Central Kitchen: (emergency food assistance): The Palisades, Hurst, and Eaton wildfires have forced approximately 30,000 residents to evacuate from areas like Pacific Palisades. World Central Kitchen is partnering with food trucks and local restaurants to make and distribute emergency food supplies to families who have evacuated. Direct Relief Wildfire Response Fund (medical relief for vulnerable groups): As a California-based disaster relief organization, Direct Relief has responded to wildfires in California for decades. During fire responses, Direct Relief provides N-95 masks, medicine, and other resources to healthcare agencies and first responders in wildfire-affected communities. All donations to Direct Relief’s wildfire response fund will directly support efforts to assist individuals impacted by fires in the Palisades, Altadena, and across California, providing critical aid where it’s needed most. Center for Disaster Philanthropy: California Wildfire Recovery Fund (medium- to long-term recovery): The fund supports communities across the state as they work to rebuild and recover from wildfires. CDP awards grants to nonprofits and community groups throughout California to help vulnerable families and communities recover. They work directly with nonprofits and in-state partners, such as the Governor’s Office of Emergency Service (Cal OES), to identify specific needs and gaps in funding with an eye to long-term rebuilding and recovery. Additionally, our partners at GoFundMe have organized the Wildfire Relief Fund 2025 "supporting relief and recovery efforts related to the wildfires burning in LA County by sending emergency relief grants of $1,000 each to individuals who have lost homes, loved ones, and property due to the Palisades, Eaton and Hurst fires." https://lnkd.in/gFZQsqVd
