What is The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt?

The sword of destiny has two edges. You are one of them.

You are Geralt, from the city of Rivia. All around you the towns and settlements of the Northern Kingdoms are being razed to the ground, as an otherworldly invading army known only as the Wild Hunt leaves a trail of blood-soaked destruction in its wake.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered is a free upgrade for existing owners on PlayStation 5¹, replacing the previous version of the game.

The upgrade features various visual, gameplay, combat, progression and customization updates, alongside other improvements.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered includes:

Visual enhancements: Global lighting rework, new shading model, subsurface scattering, HDR improvements, refreshed foliage shading and more, all accompanied by an expanded photo mode.
Gameplay and combat improvements: Smoother and new animations, improved Roach handling and climbing mechanics, new Witcher sign visual effects and updated monster behaviours and mod support.
Progression and customization: Revamped skill-tree, new transmogrification system, looting rework and new quest tracking UI, refined animations and motion blur, menu navigation improvments, and tutorial rehaul.

¹The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered is a free upgrade for existing The Witcher 3 owners on PlayStation 5. The Remastered upgrade does not apply to the PlayStation 4 version of the game. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered upgrade is available from 29 September, 2026.

Enhanced framerate

Choose between Ray Tracing Mode at 30 FPS or Performance Mode at 60 FPS on PS5. On PS5 Pro, experience Ray Tracing Mode at 60 FPS or Performance Mode at 60 FPS with higher resolution, with PSSR utilized for higher visual fidelity. Both modes support VRR and uncapped frame rates, with Performance Mode reaching up to 90 FPS with VRR.²
