How your culture can solve your org’s toughest obstacles

The answers to some of your company’s biggest challenges might lie with your employees.

Even when the challenges you’re facing might seem tough, the solution can often be found by looking to your employees and culture.

At Ragan’s Employee Experience conference earlier this month, Amira Barger, executive vice president of communications, change management and DEI advisory at Edelman, told the audience that the diversity of perspectives within a company is a resource problem solvers at any company need to explore.

“Different people imagine the world and they problem solve in ways that I could never imagine,” she said. “And that is very valuable.”

A vibrant culture that creates paths for open communication can help channel different ways of thinking into a company-centric set of solutions to a whole bevy of problems.

“Structure is not the enemy of innovation,” she said. “It can actually be the engine. You have to give people some level of parameters to work towards a very specific time-bound solution for an open-ended question.”
