Debugging without understanding can only go so far. It might replace black-box testing to some extent, maybe help with white-box testing, and probably help with proving code—if people can correctly describe what they want proven and understand what was actually proven. But I’m concerned about over-reliance (especially on technology controlled by others and understood by no one) and over-exurberance.
But it isn't technically debugging which implies tests have found a problem with the application, it's a form of code analysis that highlights problems and bugs, and which also proposes changes. Any developer that works in a professional team will treat these changes like any other changes from members of the team: follow established best practices for code standards, testing, code reviews and pull requests.
I won’t pre-judge the result, but I note that the result is not all that matters.
Which requires an understanding that there are nuances.
So if a game developer uses an AI to analyze the code for bugs which then results in a better experience for gamers playing the game, can you point to the inferior result?
