Trump is following the modern-day autocratic playbook to entrench his faction in office and make it difficult for voters to dislodge them. So, what do we do about it? Preserve electoral competition. Read how to understand and stop the Entrenchment Agenda:
    Understanding
the Entrenchment Agenda
The Trump Administration is trying to hold onto power indefinitely.
Here’s how they plan to do it. →
Entrenchment is how authoritarians consolidate and leverage government resources to stay in power.

It happens primarily through politicizing government resources, funding, and services; turning them into carrots and sticks to coerce or sideline civil society.

Preserving electoral competition is the key to preventing entrenchment.

But true electoral competition is about more than going through the motions of holding elections.

Authoritarian states regularly conduct ceremonial elections to maintain the appearance that their citizens live in
a democracy.
To preserve electoral competition for 2026, 2028,
and beyond, we must:
Preserving civic space and our right to free speech.
Protecting organizations and individuals who challenge the administration.
Maintaining checks and balances that constrain the executive branch from going after the opposition.
Ensuring free and fair elections.

ICYMI: We sued to stop DOGE's illegal access to millions of Americans' private data. DOGE is doing exactly what the Privacy Act was designed to stop: political cronies breaking the law to snoop on vast amounts of Americans' data and try to use it to benefit themselves.
"We’re watching in real time as unvetted Trump cronies break the law to get access to Americans’ most sensitive and personal data,” said Kristy Parker, Counsel for the case. “No one should be fooled into thinking they’re doing this for our benefit."
