We will miss Cat’s irreverent, gleefully obscene, absurd, and ironic humor. But we will also miss her boundless kindness and beautiful heart. Her contributions to the communities in which she was immersed are immeasurable. We thank all of her AnimatedText communities and others for showing up to support her Farewell. Your donations and comments have made all the difference. You are the keepers and guardians of AnimatedText. Cat Frazier and AnimatedText will remain synonymous forever, with no person or thing breaking that bond. Her GIFS and memes will stay with you–to still make you laugh, cry, or do both simultaneously. This post will be the last in this space. All future communications will come through her GoFundMe.

We would like to ask that you continue to support giving her “A Loving Farewell" by sharing, staying informed of updates on, and donating to the GoFundMe as long as it is open.

The link to her Memorial GoFundMe is below.

Thank you for receiving and being here with us,

Lisa Frazier

We bring this news with deep sorrow. Due to an unexpected issue with her heart, Cat Frazier died June 29th, 2026. Creator of the Tumblr @animatedtext, Queen of Memes, and host of “Memesplaining” on Super Deluxe, she crafted a unique aesthetic by blending nostalgic and modern elements of design, producing meme formats that are still referenced daily. Beloved sister, dedicated friend, confidant, leader, and activist, her shoes will never be filled. She was able to relate to people in their worst moments and turn pain into laughter. She’d use art, jokes, and her wit to touch people’s lives. She cared about so many through her work– she made online and real world communities her friends, bringing people into her world and coming into theirs. She will be loved, missed, and always remembered. If you ever felt moved or touched by Cat’s work in life, we would deeply appreciate any contribution, no matter how small, to help lay her to rest in the way she deserves.
