SoftBank, Toshiba, Hitachi among firms tipped to make $400bn in US deals

At least 21 potential projects mentioned, from energy and AI to critical minerals

TOKYO -- Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Toshiba, SoftBank Group and other companies are considering at least 21 major U.S. projects for investment, according to a document jointly released by Japan and the U.S. on Tuesday, amid Tokyo's pledge of a $550 billion investment under a Sept. 4 trade deal with U.S. President Donald Trump.
