Glossary

In-package optical I/O — a complete, housed, chip-to-chip communication interconnect using light instead of copper.
Inferencing (AI/ML) — The process of using a trained machine learning model to make predictions or decisions based on new, unseen data.

Integrated photonics — a technology that brings together light sources and guides to create a circuit.

Interactivity (AI/ML) — The rate at which users and machines interact with AI models

Interconnect bandwidth (AI/ML)—the maximum data transfer capacity between connected components in a computing system, such as accelerators in AI clusters.

Lambda — the wavelength of light, which is the distance between two peaks of a wave.

Large language model (LLM) — a model capable of understanding, generating, and manipulating human-like text.

A field of artificial intelligence enabling computers to learn and improve at tasks without being explicitly programmed.
