That stinks. This was one of the main reasons I even come here.

I wonder if they will include any Subclasses or Races like they did in Previous Books? I remember the Oathbreaker only being in the DMG of the 2014 edition.
Doubt it. They seem to be going old school with their methods.

Since you aren’t quoting anyone in your spammy comments, it is hard to tell which question is meant for me. I will respond broadly then because, contextually, you don’t seem very interested in actually understanding why anyone sees these changes positively.
How am I excited with these rules: because.
Allow me to discuss the positive aspects and concerns regarding the recent rule changes for the Monk class, particularly focusing on the abilities Empowered Strike and Stunning Strike.
One notable benefit of the rule change is that Monks now gain access to Empowered Strike at an earlier level, enhancing their combat capabilities. However, a significant issue arises from the fact that Monk attacks are now designated with a specific magical attack type, potentially rendering them ineffective against creatures with resistances or immunities. Previously, Empowered Strike was universally considered magical, allowing Monks to bypass such defenses.
Turning to the ability Stunning Strike, a key advantage is that even if a creature successfully resists the effect, it still experiences some form of consequence. Nevertheless, a drawback emerges as Monks are now limited to attempting Stunning Strike once per turn. This limitation hampers their ability to incapacitate multiple foes or aid the party in overcoming Legendary Resistances.
Furthermore, the effects applied by Stunning Strike, such as movement speed reduction and advantage on the next attack, may not always prove beneficial to the Monk or their allies. Given the Monk's frontline combat role, the movement impediment may be inconsequential, and the attack advantage might go unused since the Monk typically capitalizes on it immediately. Additionally, the fact that the Stunning effect expires at the start of the Monk's next turn, rather than the end, means that Monks seldom derive the full benefits of attacking a Stunned target.
- Unless there are dramatic differences in the monster stat blocks, this concern is completely unwarranted. There are currently only 12 monsters in the entire game, when using literally every official book on this site, that has resistance to Force damage. Less if you remove the Legacy options. Only 6 monsters are immune.
Off the top of my head I can't think of any monster as having magic resistance unless it is an advantage save, such as with the Arch Devils and Demon Princes. However, I can't think of a single monster that has immunity to spells, unless it is limited to a certain spell level?
Can you point out who has these full resistances (half damage) or immunities to all magic/spells (no damage)?

Ki explicitly links the monk class to a specific, real-world culture in a way that doesn’t make sense for a fantasy game.
Ever heard of The Monkey King movies and new video game? Those look pretty darn high Fantasy to me.

They said something along the lines on martial die to powerful to pair with those effects, but I bet kensei monk will, should they keep the subclass.
No that's not what they said. I just rewatched the Playtest #8 video and Crawford simply said that He felt that Weapon Mastery was something that other Martials (and Rogue?) should have since they didn't have special things added to their weapon attacks before. And that the Monk basically had special things added to their attacks already. To also give the Monk Weapon Mastery would be akin to putting " a hat on a hat", he said.
At the end of the day it doesn't matter because you can eventually choose the Mastery Weapon feat for the Nick property at 4th level. Of course by that time you are about to get your extra attack at 5th level and would already be doing 4 attacks with flurry of blows. @BrotherGlacius

How odd that they "recommend" the Irresistible Offense Boon, when it is worthless.
Monks stop carrying about enemy resistances to non-magical weapons, since a level 5 they use Force as their damage.
Second, the odds of rolling 20 just to get that good feature is 1/20. Definitely not worth it. 😒

Ya they put in art of a character in a wheelchair in a dungeon....I challenge anyone to explain how THAT makes sense....lol. Its not an inclusion issue, its just simply a dumb idea. I am surrounded....oops someone broke an axel...let me crawl from the undead horde....lol.
I could see it if they were an Artificer but since they aren't in the PHB it doesn't make any sense at all. And as for Mexican orcs. There were no Mexicans around that period, there were Aztecs. Hispanics were created due to the Spaniards conquest in the Americas in the 1600's.
How can an Artificer create such a thing when it wasn't invented until just before the industrial age? Even if an Artificer has godlike intelligence they can't just make something in the Middle Ages that wasn't a necessity until then. And as for Mexican

My pt is that they made changes to the UnArmed strike. They didnt give monks Weapon Mastery...I disagree but what they should have done is made those options essentially weapon masteries FOR the Monk....as base abilities. That would have been at least reasonable.
Monk is better than 2014. Its not good enough, between the nerf to SS to the lack of of a specialized WM, and that says nothing of idiotic blanding of the class...
To be fair. This game at its' core is about fighters and wizards. All of the other classes are just addons. Fighters have always got the best weapons and fancy stuff to do with them and Wizards (formerly Magic Users) have always got the best spells and fancy stuff to do with them.
I never stress over what they did or didn't do for the addon classes. Just sit back and enjoy the WoTC ride. 😎

We have already this in the current DMG, p. 230:
Alternatives to Epic Boons
You might decide to grant one of the following rewards to a 20th-level character, instead of awarding an epic boon. These two options can be awarded to a character more than once.Ability Score Improvement. The character can increase one ability score by 2 or increase two ability scores by 1 each. The ability score can now be increased above 20, up to a maximum of 30.
New Feat. The character gains a new feat chosen by the player, but subject to your approval. The difference being before it was only optional now it is part of the class feature.

O really Monk unarmed attacks use to just be considered magical to get around resistances but, it did not give it a damage type. It just said that it got around resistances. Now it actually gets a damage type Force damage. Force damage is actually a magical damage that is from actual spells.
Playtest 8 clearly removed any inferences that Monk's abilities are magical, except in the subgroups that specifically says something is. Doing Force Damage, is only because of your superhuman ability to concentration enough power that your fists hit like they were magical.
Just considered magical for this purpose, not actually magical in the sense it can be dispelled or nullified by anti-magic. Hope that helps.

Has the ability t to not get an epic boon and just get a +2 to your main stat with increaseing the max to a 22 disapeared ? In playtests the wording was off since with that feature your max should increase to 26 not 25 wasting a single stat point
It wasn't mentioned so it would appear that has changed. When you select a Boon you automatically get a +1 in your selected category up to 30. Since at level 20 you can raise your scores to a max of 25, it would make sense to wait until 20 to accept your Boon, thus increasing your score to 26 potentially.

So monks are the only martial class without weapon mastery, instead they have to sacrifice damage to get any secondary effects. Just play a Rogue they get all the things.
Their hands and feet (and knees and elbows if you like Muay Thai) are their weapons mastery.

I don't see why a DM would use carrying weight, when the grappling rule specifies any creature no more than one size larger. Weight is a non-factor.

"That you can see". Just tell your comrades to get behind you or position yourself so they aren't in the crossfire. 😎

This is why I am glad 5.5 replaced 5e, as well as the supplement books. Way too many ways to synergize abilities for some mega outcome.

I'm glad you asked because my immediate thought was the creatures from the movie Alien that started the franchise. Hitting those things guaranteed an acid splash

Correct. Now it's just clear that lose exhaustion levels every round and how it affects your checks until you die.
Sleep deprivation is mention as affecting exhaustion in the core books, although it's in Tasha's or one of those other supplemental books.

On here? Like someone said just click to ignore them and poof they are gone. You don't even see a "blocked" icon haunting you whenever they post. You just don't see it. I don't know if they can see your posts though. If so, then that would defeat the purpose, because they could still troll your comments with everyone, and you would be unaware.🤔

There shouldn't. Such things belong video games, not D&D. In fact, I see the term used some monsters in video games, that don't have any phases from what I can see. So who knows if some people have a different definition of what a "phase" is? 🤷🏿♂️

His employment is irrelevant. This is a discussion that's open to anyone, if you don't think it's worth discussing you're free not To engage. For the other gentle person who asked about the source, it's from the D and D Youtube channel with that date

That's reasonable

As my original post says that contradicts what Jeremy said

There are two types of Magical Darkness, there the normal Darkness and their is the Darkness Spell. They both are the same, except Darkvision doesn't work in the spell.
Otherwise you can't see in or out of the Darkness, which is typically a sphere, without some magical/enchanced senses.
Night darkness or a dark dungeon or room is treated the same, except you can simply light something to see a certain distance around you and of course Darkvision works, but doesn't see anything in color.

I know that the SAC says whatever desigers of the game says on tweets or in public statements is not RAW. I would counter that with Crawford's own words from Sage advice back on 6/19/2017. He specifically, and made it clear: "I am the ONLY person on staff who can make official rulings for Dungeons and Dragons". Totally his own words, not paraphrased.

So it depends right? If they are not in combat then they can move where they want and how fast they want to within the parameters of the traveling rules. In older editions, exploration didn't mean devoid of encounters. The general rule in TSR was to roll a die (a 1d6 for example). After a certain distance, that you determined, you roll 1-3 and nothing. If you roll a 4-6 then they encounter a monster. It's preferable that you already have a list of monster types available, because then all you would do is roll another die to determine the monster. For example if you have eight different monsters then you roll a 1d8 and that's the encounter. It doesn't have to be anything challenging, just to keep them on their toes.

This is true now, but in older editions this was not the case. Spells like Cure/Cause wounds and Heal, had no effect on any kind of undead or supernatural types like werewolves, Devils, Demons etc.

I could of sworn that there used to be reverse forms of healing spells, like Harm or Cause light/serious Wounds that would heal undead, but they obviously no longer exists except maybe in table settings.
