This sentence needs serious work if it is to be understood by a general audience (or perhaps anybody at all):
As the reality set in, of racial self-identity lost within the communal constructs of their own making, most of the Beat writers altered their message drastically to acknowledge the social impulse to marginalize the self in the conflict between isolationism and absorption of self by communal instincts seeking belonging.
I've been working on the article, and I've rewritten that word salad to align with what the given source actually says. Part of the problem is that the source, Martinez, wrote the passage in nearly impenetrable language himself. I've done my best to align our text with his, but also to attempt to clarify it. Thanks for pointing this out. Carlstak (talk) 03:15, 29 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
This is the text I wrote:
According to Manuel Luis Martinez, initially the Beats, without distinguishing between corporatist conformism and communal egalitarianism, set out to construct nonconformist communities based on marginalized ethnic identities, usually Black identity and Mexican identity. But even surrounded by their communal creations, they began to fear being racially absorbed and thus rejected their own communal life. Beats responded to absorption and conformity in various ways, reflecting the social conflicts of the 1950s and 1960s. In their quest to transform the "American Individual", the Beats deeply engaged with questions of race, the place of the white man in America, reforming the patriarchy, and reinventing the self.
The brand-new editor who added the content, EJ MF NO, has reverted my removal. I've filed a notice at the Administrators noticeboard as this appears to be a single-purpose account mostly concerned with ref-spamming at this point. They've made a total of 21 edits in their editing history, all to this article, including a good bit of unsourced original research that reads as their personal, idiosyncratic commentary, some of it incomprehensible, like the badly written text you cite above. I've removed much of it, but I'll wait to see what admin response is at AN. Carlstak (talk) 21:59, 29 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Apparent single-purpose account edit-warring to insert unreliably-sourced content, effectively refspam

The brand-new editor EJ MF NO has been edit-warring to reinsert content that I've challenged as citing a non-reliable source. They have a single-purpose account with only 19 edits, all to this article, and are not communicating. At this point it appears they are here only to spam the article with a non-peer reviewed (obviously) master's thesis containing critical analysis by a non-expert and commentary about living persons—they may also have a conflict of interest. The editor also removed a "citation needed" tag I placed following one of the many unsourced statements they've added to the article, which is original research until someone provides a source that supports it, and may be removed per WP:ONUS. Original research is not allowed on WP, nor is refspam for unreliable sources. Carlstak (talk) 01:50, 29 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
