Welcome

[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Re: 163.1.141.7 has returned

[edit]

He doesn't own that page. No anonymous user does: anyone could have that IP address. I've rolled back. Besides which, other admins need to know the damage he has done in the past. Thanks for letting me know! His page and Rhwanda's page are both on my watchlist, I'll know if he tries it again. - Ta bu shi da yu 07:13, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Message re: McLuhan

[edit]

That's fine chris. But so far I don't see anybody else contributing and the essay doesn't make much sense with out the parts you took out maybe you should remove the whole thing and return it to the orignal which was just a stub. only a suggestion. I am way ahead of you and have started a blog no more wikipedia.

Sincerely Terry Mockler

Thanks, Terry. Maybe a stub does make sense, I was hoping to have folks start on an outline, but no interest to date. Best luck with the blog, you are way ahead of us . . . Cheers. Chris vLS 00:45, 31 Dec 2004 (UTC)

RE: Rasmussem, Inc.

[edit]

A while ago you contacted me about an article I'd written about Rasmussem, Inc. in several of Vivian Vande Velde's novels, and how there was no page on the author or books. Just thought you might be interested to know that I have added pages for the author and am working on the novels.

Thanks, Martin Ultima

issues about school articles

[edit]

In November 2003, there was a VfD debate over Sunset High School (Portland). The debate was archived under Talk:Sunset High School (Portland). What to do with the article is still being contested and has been recently re-nominated for VfD at Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Sunset High School (Portland).

I am writing to you because you have participated in such debates before. There still does not exist a wikipedia policy (as far as i can tell) over what to do in regards to articles about specific U.S. public school. My hope is that a real consensus can come out of the debate, and a real policy can take shape. Take part if you are so willing. Kingturtle 02:33, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Request for comment: Zika virus

[edit]

Hey there Chrisvls! My name's Joe Sutherland, and I work with the Communications team at the Wikimedia Foundation. I am writing an article for the Wikimedia Blog about the article on the recent Zika virus outbreak and how it has been updated as news has developed. Since you're interested in this topic and have edited the article a fair bit, I was wondering if you could answer some questions for use in the blogpost?

Specifically, I want to ask:

  1. What made you interested in this topic?
  2. How did you get interested in editing Wikipedia articles?
  3. What do you think of Wikipedia's coverage of medical topics? How could it be improved?
  4. Why is it important that Wikipedia's articles on breaking epidemics like this are kept up-to-date?

I'm writing here because it looks like you have email disabled. If you want to email me your answers (or have questions yourself!) you can do so at jsutherland@wikimedia.org ! I've already been in touch with some other editors of the article but would love your input!

Thanks a lot for your time! Joe Sutherland (WMF) (talk) 01:28, 9 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

There is no discussion to be had

[edit]

This individual is a woman, and her name is "Melissa". Her delusions and mental illnesses notwithstanding, her name is "Melissa". That is what will be put back in the article and continue to do so, until wikipedia learns to accept the facts.

I am not expecting, nor will I receive any responses to this matter. Her name is "Melissa", simple as that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.96.45.127 (talk) 20:43, 17 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry you feel your point of view trumps the way wikipedia works. If everyone did that, wikipedia wouldn't work very well. I'm afraid I'll have to refer this to administrators to address. Chris vLS (talk) 21:02, 17 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
No no, it isn't my point of view, it is the opinion of our Lord and Saviour, and the words of his book. A person cannot mutilate their gender away, we call this mental illness. It's a shame you reject this fact in favour of leftist lunacy. Consensus is dead. The Lord reigns supreme, and the truth cannot be eliminated. You also seem to have an issue reading. When I said "no discussion", I meant that. I think the words I used made that perfectly clear. For your benefit, you can play around with "consensus" all day long, but you cannot and will not attempt to alter truth. Re-read the bit where I make clear no replies. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.96.45.127 (talk) 21:36, 17 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
I appreciate that you see God's law overriding the need for consensus. But that's not how wikipedia works. Wikipedia isn't yours, or mine for that matter. Editing is a volunteer effort. For people who volunteer to do editing here, it entails respecting way wikipedia works -- the same way that volunteering at a church or hospital entails respecting that church or hospital's views and rules. Cheers. Chris vLS (talk) 23:11, 17 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Frederick Trump

[edit]

Hello, why did you revert my grammar-correction edit to the above? Denisarona (talk) 07:01, 19 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Because I'm an idiot? I picked the change up off pending changes, was just looking at the diff, and mistook it for changing his son's name to Frederick Trumpf. So sorry! Chris vLS (talk) 07:05, 19 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
You're not an idiot and I wasn't implying such. As I said on my talk page, no problem. Regards Denisarona (talk) 12:54, 19 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
Indeed, you weren't implying anything, was just trying to be funny. Thanks again. Chris vLS (talk) 16:41, 19 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Result was: no consensus. Probably a dysfunctional editing dynamic at the moment. Chris vLS (talk) 21:13, 12 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
