COI vs SME clarification
[edit]| This help request has been answered. If you need more help, you can , contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page, or consider visiting the Teahouse. |
Hey there - I was hoping I could get some clarification on whether editing articles within certain topic could reasonably be considered me interacting with the topic as an subject matter expert (SME) or if it could be considered a COI (and I should proceed as such).
I recently made an edit to Transportation in Northern Virginia after coming across the article in WP:TFD and noticing a section needed some updates. Without getting too much into it (unless an admin needs me to) my day job is for a transportation agency in the DC area - so out of precaution I followed the COI guidance post-edits. However after reviewing the criteria I wasn't sure if in this scenario I would count as an SME or not (since I do have a fair bit of working knowledge on the topic). Long story short, on this topic/this article, should I follow COI procedures, or can I edit it as an SME, following COI procedures where I may be professionally connected? netstars22 (talk) 21:26, 14 February 2026 (UTC)

- I'd prefer not to say but I can say it is not any of the organizations within the section that I edited. netstars22 (talk) 23:34, 14 February 2026 (UTC)
- Then in that case, you're fine. Only if you want an edit to be made on an organization you are connected to, you have to follow the COI policies. TheTechie[she/they] | talk? 00:06, 15 February 2026 (UTC)

Rollback granted
[edit]
Hi Netstars22. After reviewing your request, I have enabled rollback on your account. Please keep the following things in mind while using rollback:
- Being granted rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle or Ultraviolet. It just adds a [rollback] button next to a page's latest live revision. It does not grant you any additional "status" on Wikipedia, nor does it change how Wikipedia policies apply to you.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear and unambiguous cases of vandalism only. Never use rollback to revert good faith edits. For more information about when rollback is appropriate, see Wikipedia:Rollback § When to use rollback.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war, and it should never be used in a content-related dispute to restore the page to your preferred revision. If rollback is abused or used for this purpose or any other inappropriate purpose, the permission will be revoked.
- Use common sense. If you're not sure about something, ask!
I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, and feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate use of rollback. If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin) and Wikipedia:Rollback. Good luck and thanks! voorts (talk/contributions) 17:10, 30 May 2026 (UTC)
Pending changes reviewer granted
[edit]
Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.
Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

[edit]I was testing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Archive.today_guidance so what was test is ability to revert - you just did it a moment before me. Could you wait a few minutes next time? ~2026-35560-64 (talk) 17:27, 17 June 2026 (UTC)
- I just tested on the same page: One can even insert an archive.today link; there is no filter at all ~2026-35560-64 (talk) 17:30, 17 June 2026 (UTC)
- I reverted your initial edit because it appeared to have removed more than just the target archive.today link in the bibliography. Noted for the future! Netstars22 (talk to me!) 17:40, 17 June 2026 (UTC)
Temporary account IP viewer granted
[edit]
Hello, Netstars22. Per your request, your account has been granted temporary-account-viewer rights. You are now able to reveal the IP addresses of individuals using temporary accounts that are not visible to the general public. This is very sensitive information that is only to be used to aid in anti-abuse workflows. Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer for more information on this user right. It is important to remember:
- You must not share IP address data with someone who does not have the same access permissions unless disclosure is permissible as per guidelines listed at Foundation:Policy:Wikimedia Access to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy.
- Access must not be used for political control, to apply pressure on editors, or as a threat against another editor in a content dispute. There must be a valid reason to investigate a temporary user. Note that using multiple temporary accounts is not forbidden, so long as they are not used in violation of policies (for example, block or ban evasion).
It is also important to note that the following actions are logged for others to see:
- When a user accepts the preference that enables or disables IP reveal for their account.
- Revealing an IP address of a temporary account.
- Listing the temporary accounts that are associated with one or more IP addresses (using the CIDR notation format).
Remember, even if a user is violating policy, avoid revealing personal information if possible. Use temporary account usernames rather than disclosing IP addresses directly, or give information such as same network/not same network or similar. If you do not want the user right anymore then please ask me or another administrator and it will be removed for you. You may also voluntarily give up access at any time by visiting Special:Preferences. Happy editing! Extraordinary Writ (talk) 07:03, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
How can i prove the relationship with someone
[edit]My name is Shuja ur Rehman Khan. I have added my name in the relatives section of Dr.S.M. Junaid Zaidi. Im his direct nephew. Im an Electrical Hardware Engineer and won many prestigious awards in my domain and continuinghis legacy. You can google search my work and professional profile through my name "Shuja ur Rehman Khan". But how can i prove that he is my uncle (mother's brother)? Should i provide picture with him or what? ~2026-43718-71 (talk) 02:50, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
- If you are indeed related to this individual then you should refrain from making edits to their page as this is considered a conflict of interest. Additionally, we have fairly clear guidelines on what makes someone notable and even if a family member is notable - notability is not inherited so there would be no reason under this guidance to include a non-notable relative on that person’s page.
- If you have any further questions on this, you may ask them at the Teahouse. Netstars22 (talk to me!) 03:03, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
Page revert
[edit]You reverted my page due to not explaining adequately my edits however the Co2 coalition has not directly contradicted or denied the scientific consensus as the group.Here. Their beliefs align more with lukewarmism however while it is not the dominant form of scientific research around 12-39% of scientists do not believe there is a climate crisis source therefore the claim that the Co2 coalition is a climate denial think tank is false and I demand the error be corrected. ~2026-43779-53 (talk) 03:45, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
- WP:RGW. Your opinion contradicts what reliable sources say. Reliable sources win on Wikipedia. The revert was correct. --Hob Gadling (talk) 06:21, 11 August 2026 (UTC)
Hello, you reverted the last two edits on this page, but they were by no means vandalism, nor were they unfounded: in fact, the rule is to keep only recent matches—those less than 12 months or 1 year old. Matches from before that period, which are too old, are not kept and should, in theory, be listed on a specific page that lists all matches (for example for the senior Botswana women's national football team we have this Botswana women's national football team results); unfortunately, such a page does not necessarily exist for every team. Matches from 2019 or 2022, for example, are completely obsolete. Furthermore, when you reverted the edits, you did not take into account the Srikandi Merdeka Cup friendly tournament played by Singapore’s U17 women’s team a few days ago (see this https://srikandimerdekacup.com/ ). Please self revert you. Thank you for your understanding. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ~2026-46811-26 (talk) 18:06, 28 August 2026 (UTC)
- Do you have the relevant guideline that states this rule? Netstars22 (talk to me!) 18:46, 28 August 2026 (UTC)
- See here the wiki project, Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/National teams, the sentence is very clear and explicit : "The following is a list of match results in the last 12 months, as well as any future matches that have been scheduled." @Lancepark:, experienced user for information, they have do it there for example, one example among many others.
Question
[edit]Is this a bot or real person ~2026-51145-05 (talk) 11:10, 23 September 2026 (UTC)
- I’m real - and I reverted your edit because you didn’t provide a reliable source, especially more important because you were editing an article about a real person. Netstars22 (talk to me!) 11:14, 23 September 2026 (UTC)
Sorry about what I edited earlier, I wasn't fully informed and thought he had passed away today, but I read a bit and saw that he actually passed away last Friday.
[edit]yea but really sorry, won't do that again ~2026-51391-40 (talk) 11:33, 24 September 2026 (UTC)

Question - adding a warning
[edit]Hello, I have a question for you, I hope you don't mind. I recently adding a level 3 warning below your level 2 on a TA user's talk page. I haven't figured out how to do so without replying to the previous warning - so my warning is not in line with the prior ones. How do you correctly add a warning 2/3/4 once the month section has already been created for the first warning? GreyZoneLife (talk) 21:34, 22 October 2026 (UTC)
- Sure - are you adding the warnings in manually or using a tool like WP:Twinkle or Ultraviolet? If you’re doing it manually, you’ll want to do it in Source Editor and add the template in at the very bottom of the section right after the last line of the last message. If you’re using a tool/script, it should do it for you automatically. Netstars22 (talk to me!) 21:42, 22 October 2026 (UTC)
- I'm doing it manually for now (I use Twinkle as of this week but haven't figured out how it works for talk pages yet). Thank you for the tips! GreyZoneLife (talk) 21:51, 22 October 2026 (UTC)
- No worries! For Twinkle it usually works on both a User: page if one exists or on the talk page and you’d just select “Warn” Netstars22 (talk to me!) 22:41, 22 October 2026 (UTC)

Mersa Matrouh
[edit]Hello,Netstars22.The sources for my edits to Marsa Matrouh were taken from Cohen, Getzel M. (2006). The Hellenistic Settlements in Syria, the Red Sea Basin, and North Africa, pp. 348–349. ISBN 978-0-520-93102-2.
I summarized the relevant content from the book and added the classical sources quoted in it, but I forgot to cite the book itself. I apologize for this omission and will add the appropriate citation. Sqfzx0719 (talk) 07:05, 26 October 2026 (UTC)

Request to restore principal information
[edit]Hello, I added the current principal's name (Professor Md. Safir Uddin Chowdhury) based on the official college website (https://gsscollege.gov.bd/). Could you please review and restore the information if appropriate? Thank you. MD Yousuf's (talk) 02:37, 1 November 2026 (UTC)
- I have restored the edit without the external link. In the future, please do not include external links in the body of the article. If you wish to add the link as a source, please review WP:CITE for how to do so. Netstars22 (talk to me!) 02:46, 1 November 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for restoring the edit. Could you please also add the college website (https://gsscollege.gov.bd/) as a source/reference for the principal's name? I will follow the proper citation format in future. MD Yousuf's (talk) 03:23, 1 November 2026 (UTC)
