Uncontrustive editing and false claims

Please take greater care with your edits, and please do not make false claims of vandalism. ~2026-47799-77 (talk) 16:07, 3 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

You added <nowiki> tags to a wikilink, which removed a link and made it look like [[This]], instead of This, which could be interpreted by some as vandalism. As for the edit summary and the message I left you, they were both presets from the software that I use, so I picked what I thought was the best option out of the somewhat limited list. /usr/bin/owuh $ (💬 | she/they) 16:14, 3 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Your edit was unconstructive, and your claim of vandalism was incorrect; that you incorrectly used a preset is no excuse. Please take greater care, and that includes learning how to correctly use software you utilise. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ~2026-47799-77 (talk) 16:21, 3 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Offensive usernames

Hey, please don't report usernames that are highly offensive (enough to be WP:OS'd) publicly. Cheers! – LuniZunie(talk) 22:21, 17 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Temporary account IP viewer granted

The temporary account IP viewer logo, composed of the Wikipedia globe with a user and an IP address

Hello, Ow0cast. Per your request, your account has been granted temporary-account-viewer rights. You are now able to reveal the IP addresses of individuals using temporary accounts that are not visible to the general public. This is very sensitive information that is only to be used to aid in anti-abuse workflows. Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer for more information on this user right. It is important to remember:

  • You must not share IP address data with someone who does not have the same access permissions unless disclosure is permissible as per guidelines listed at Foundation:Policy:Wikimedia Access to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy.
  • Access must not be used for political control, to apply pressure on editors, or as a threat against another editor in a content dispute. There must be a valid reason to investigate a temporary user. Note that using multiple temporary accounts is not forbidden, so long as they are not used in violation of policies (for example, block or ban evasion).

It is also important to note that the following actions are logged for others to see:

  • When a user accepts the preference that enables or disables IP reveal for their account.
  • Revealing an IP address of a temporary account.
  • Listing the temporary accounts that are associated with one or more IP addresses (using the CIDR notation format).

Remember, even if a user is violating policy, avoid revealing personal information if possible. Use temporary account usernames rather than disclosing IP addresses directly, or give information such as same network/not same network or similar. If you do not want the user right anymore then please ask me or another administrator and it will be removed for you. You may also voluntarily give up access at any time by visiting Special:Preferences. Happy editing! --Ahecht (TALK

See this diff. Category links need special treatment or they will end up adding the page to the category rather than displaying the link as expected. Jay8g [V•T•E] 03:25, 28 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Same applies to interwiki links as in this diff, and file links if you encounter those in the future. Jay8g [V•T•E] 03:38, 28 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Friendly note

I see that you changed your username from Ow0cast to Owuh, so I've modified User:Owuh/header so a big red error "Page User:Ow0cast/header/style.css has no content." doesn't show up on your userpage. You can keep the page on your watchlist if you need another username change. Cheers! — SimpleObjects-9ei 🎃 (trick or treat 👻) 17:18, 18 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

thanks, was planning on doing it after the rename but didnt realize it happened already Owuh (talk) 17:24, 18 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Clerking on noticeboards

Hi Owuh. Please don't remove reports early on AIV, UAA, EFFPR, etc. Let the bot or an administrator (or EFM/EFH on EFFPR) do that. Thanks. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 04:30, 21 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

the bot is down. the users are blocked. whats the harm? /etc/owuh $ (💬 | she/they) 04:33, 21 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
The point is that these reports shouldn't be removed early by users who aren't responsible for handling them. It risks removing reports that are still relevant and it adds an unexpected removal to the page history that administrators will need to investigate as I did with your removal. In addition, administrators may still be responding to a report in the moments before it's archived. Please leave archiving to the bot, an administrator, or an EFM/EFH on EFFPR. It's not that urgent and someone will take care of removing reports even when the bot is down. Regards. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 04:57, 21 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
