In the previous thread on this page, it was stated that there is a long-standing local consensus within the Middle-earth Wikiproject to avoid using non-free images (such as images from film adaptations) as the lead images in character articles, such as Frodo Baggins, Gimli or Aragorn. | Should South Asian cinema, broadly construed, be placed under general sanctions as a subtopic of the South Asia contentious topic in the same way as caste and Indian military history?
Specifically, "South Asian cinema, broadly construed" should be understood to include at a minimum films as well as all associated cast and crew (actors, directors, musical directors, etc.) including but not limited to India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
Worth noting that the proposals for autoconfirmed restriction are without precedent as far as I'm aware. Answers which were already given during the RFCBEFORE discussion (included below under 'Discussion') have been transcluded into the 'Survey' subsection.
