André Andreta a aimé ceciI still remember how pessimistically the market reacted when our CEO announced the Elevate 2028 plan last November. Yet here we are: H1 2026 in line with the guidance, better operating margin, higher free cash flow, and lower net debt. All this while the market remains challenging. At Valeo, we embrace change, adapt, reorganize and keep innovating. Proud to be part of the Valeo tribe 😎 #ProudtobeValeo #ValeoAndré Andreta a aimé ceciA closer look at Valeo H1 Results: Margin Expansion, Cash Generation, and Structural Deleveraging Valeo H1 results demonstrate our strategy is delivering: Strict cost control, Pricing discipline, and Focus on cash generation are yielding tangible, structural results, allowing us to reaffirm our full-year guidance with confidence. Key financial highlights from the first half: 🔹Group Sales: Reached €10.4 billion. 🔹Operating Margin: Expanded to 5.0% (+0.5 pts YoY and +0.3 pts vs. FY25). This trajectory reflects our ongoing right-pricing of technologies, systematic pricing compensations, and structural reduction of our breakeven point. 🔹Free Cash Flow: Reached €242 million, more than double H1 2025 and already over half of our minimum full-year guidance. 🔹Historic Debt Reduction: We structurally reduced our net debt in H1. It’s the first time in 10 years that debt has been reduced in the first half of a year without relying on asset disposals. With €12.1 billion in H1 order intake (1.4x OEM sales), our order book remains robust and margin-accretive across our POWER, BRAIN, and LIGHT divisions, supported by strong commercial momentum in North America, China, and India. Based on these solid H1 results, we reaffirm our 2026 guidance and have the ambition, under stable market conditions, macroeconomic projections and supply chain, to achieve an operating margin and cash generation in H2 at least equivalent to H1. Furthermore, our opportunities in high-growth "Beyond Automotive" verticals such as Defense, Energy Storage (BESS), and Data Centers, are exceptionally compelling. We aim to continue capturing new revenue streams by leveraging our existing R&D and technology stack without requiring heavy incremental CapEx or investment. Our financial discipline is paying off, our balance sheet is continuously strengthening, and we are ready for the return to growth from 2027. A sincere thank you to all the Valeo teams globally for their rigor and execution. We remain laser-focused to deliver sustainable long-term value.

André Andreta a aimé ceciA colleague of mine once said that, during airshows, we don’t really realise when one day ends and the next begins. Intense work, countless hours of preparation before the event (and even more during it), early mornings, late nights, walking 10K steps a day, constantly running from one spot to the other… But none of that compares to the incredible feeling of being part of a family. Seeing some of the world’s most advanced aircraft so close, meeting people from all over the world, strengthening relationships with the teams you work with every day, connecting with colleagues you’ve never had the chance to speak to before, learning so much… No wonder I always leave these events with a “post-airshow blues.” Farnborough International Airshow 2026 was no exception. It also marked my 3rd anniversary at Airbus - and I couldn’t have asked for a better company to work for. Vive l’aviation! ✈️

André Andreta a aimé ceciThanks for explaining Brightloop's vision. Modularity is definitely the way ! Performance is better, flexibility unbeatable, and the development much more fun 😊André Andreta a aimé ceciWhat if your power converter stopped being the bottleneck to your innovation? Electrification is no longer about replacing an engine with an electric powertrain. It's about rethinking the entire power architecture. As electrification reshapes high-power industries, power architectures are evolving faster than ever. Across motorsport, mining, defense, marine, railway and many other demanding applications, we're seeing the same trends: • Single-bus architectures are evolving into multi-bus systems. • High-voltage buses are becoming the backbone of high-power applications, while low-voltage buses continue to power legacy loads. • Multiple voltage levels now coexist within the same power architecture: 28 V, 48 V, 400 V, 600 V, 800 V and up to 2000 V. • AC and DC increasingly coexist within the same system. • Power systems now need to support bidirectional power flow, export power, grid-forming, grid-following, AC or DC microgrids, and different AC configurations including three-phase, three-phase + neutral, split-phase and single-phase, all from the same platform. The challenge? Architectures rarely remain the same throughout a project, let alone from one project to the next. A new voltage level. A new power requirement. A new energy storage technology. A new mission profile. A new customer requirement. Each change can mean another converter, another redesign and another validation cycle. What if it didn't have to? At least for power conversion. I've come to believe that the role of a power converter has fundamentally changed. It is no longer just an energy conversion device. It has become an enabler of innovation. The challenge is no longer to select a power converter. It's to build a universal power conversion platform that evolves with your projects and the technologies that shape them. In my opinion, such a platform should enable engineering teams to: ⚡Prototype faster with mature, off-the-shelf products. ⚡Explore multiple system architectures without redesigning the power conversion stage. ⚡Customize only what creates value while keeping the same proven technology foundation. ⚡Reduce technical risk by relying on products already validated across demanding applications. ⚡Scale from prototype to production without changing platforms. ⚡Capitalize on engineering know-how, so every innovation becomes the starting point for the next one. All without compromising performance or power density. That's exactly the philosophy behind BrightLoop's Universal Power Conversion Platform. The value of a power conversion platform is no longer measured only by efficiency. It's measured by how much faster it enables engineering teams to innovate and adapt. How are evolving power architectures changing the way you develop your systems? #PowerElectronics #Electrification #PowerArchitecture #Innovation #Defense #Mining #Motorsport #Marine #Railway 😁 😁 😁

🎉 Excited to share that our new paper, “Auto-Tuning of Adaptive Control Initial Gains Using Virtual System-Based Approach in Grid-Tied Converters”, has just been published in Revista Eletrônica de Potência (SOBRAEP Journal of Power Electronics) ⚡😎😎 ⚙In this work, we propose and experimentally validate a virtual system-based auto-tuning method for initializing the gains of adaptive controllers applied to grid-tied converters. This approach provides a practical and systematic alternative to empirical tuning. 🗝 Key contributions include: ✏A virtual-plant auto-tuning approach that ensures persistent excitation and smooth transition to the physical plant; ✏Full adaptive RMRAC–FASTSM implementation, achieving robust performance under load and parametric variations; ✏Experimental validation demonstrating reduced transients, lower residual tracking errors, and THD within IEEE-1547 limits. This methodology can be extended to any adaptive control structure requiring initial gain tuning, offering a solid foundation for real-world adaptive systems deployment. I’m deeply grateful to my co-authors and colleagues for their collaboration and support throughout this research. 🙏 📘 The full paper is available at: https://lnkd.in/dU9ZQj_f 💭"The understanding does not take its laws from nature, but gives them to it.!"💭, Immanuel Kant, Critique of Pure Reason. #Onlinetuning #Virtualsystem #Automatictuning #Slidingmodecontrol #Adaptivecontrol #Gridtiedconverters #Voltagesourceinverters #UFSM #GEPOC

Our work on demonstrating Stochastic resonance in ferroelectric (bistable) systems is out in Small: https://lnkd.in/gtNrVzaB I am particularly proud of this robust work lead from the front by Vivek Dey, with highest quality implementation by Vivek Dey Thejas Basavarajappa (as his masters thesis) and army of amazing undergrads at @IIT Palakkad Manikantan R S Kevin Jacob Jonnalagadda Nikhila. (Kevin and Nikhila are currently pursuing PhD in IISc, Thejas is in Cornell for PhD, and Mani in Texas Instruments). Ofcourse, all this is a very nice and fruitful collaboration with my good friend (and a senior from IITM days) Arvind Ajoy. The backstory will be a long blogpost for some other time. SR is a phenomena by which one can take help from noise (white in this case) to switch from polarization up to polarization down and back in a ferroelectric material at sub-coercive fields. If the rate of escape from a single well (which is modulated by noise) matches with the input frequency, we have "resonance" or stochastic resonance. While I recommend you all to read the paper to see how our predictive modeling, design of experiements, and the experimental results are in perfect sync, here are some highlights of this paper: 1. Generally SR is shown in (volatile) devices through some metrics. But we show a direct measurement of Kramers escape time (which is a direct measurement of SR) in ferroelectric (non-volatile) devices. Kramers escape time is well defined quantity in chemical reactions (and physical chemistry). To put it in context of FE double wells and non-volatile devices in general is Arvind Ajoy genius. 2. Our formulation lets us estimate the friction coefficient for domain switching in PZT. 3. Importantly, we show that a few independent figures of merit such as cross covariance with a polarization switching signal, SNR, and output power do actually show a peak at SR (defined by Kramers escape time problem). 4. Showing these ideas experimentally requires huge amount statistical sampling (at various generated noise) and ensemble averaging. I was joking with Vivek that these in itself will be great (and much more demanding) endurance tests for FE devices. Not all FEs can withstand this. Add to that some cycling induced imprint effects. That justifies the use of PZT (a model'ish' system). From now on, I am going to say one has a good FE material if one shows SR in them with the statistical rigour shown here. 5. There is some fun in doing predictive modeling, and seeing that your robust experiments actually match the predictions. With the amount of complexity in the materials systems we work on, this is typically a rarity. Happy reading !

Current source inverters have significant advantages over voltage source inverters for motor drives, such as smoother output current waveforms and lower dv/dt. However, one significant disadvantage of current source inverters is the need for a large, lossy DC-link inductor. Could we mitigate this disadvantage by using the field winding of a wound-field synchronous motor as the DC-link inductor for its own current source inverter motor drive? Answering this question led to a paper that was recently accepted by IEEE JESTPE. In this paper, my coauthors, Sri Vignesh Sankarraman and Salek Khan, PhD, and I compared different topologies of wound-field synchronous motors, selected a design for further evaluation, and concluded that the field winding can indeed provide plenty of inductance for DC-link of the current-source inverter. Finally, we built and tested a technology demonstrator to validate our conclusions. The authors' version of the paper is freely available on our lab website: https://lnkd.in/gqazZGqX.

✨ New Publication on IEEE Xplore ✨ I’m pleased to share that our paper, “Complementing Hydroelectric Power with Batteries for the Spanish Electric System,” is now available on IEEE Xplore. 🔗 Read the paper: https://lnkd.in/eVH5ddaG As Spain moves toward large-scale integration of renewables, a key challenge is not just adding more capacity but ensuring reliability, flexibility, and security of supply, especially during dry hydrological years. In this work, we analyse how Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) can effectively complement hydropower to support the integration of 42.5 GW of solar PV and wind into the Spanish electric system. Using 10-minute-resolution data over 2 years, we evaluate different operational scenarios and storage strategies. This study highlights the importance of combined storage strategies for future high-renewable power systems and provides practical insights for system planners and policymakers. Grateful to my co-authors, Julio Pascual Miqueleiz and Luis Marroyo, for the collaboration. #EnergyStorage #Hydropower #Batteries #RenewableEnergy #PowerSystems #Decarbonization #IEEE #SpainEnergy

In this paper, we applied three distinct control strategies to the lithium-ion battery charging process: 1. Model Reference Adaptive Control (MRAC), 2. Adaptive PI control, and 3. Fixed-gain PI control. In all cases, the experimental results were obtained using a low-cost STM32F407VET microcontroller. One of the main challenges in controlling DC–DC converters with adaptive techniques is related to the initialization of the adaptive gains in systems with poor excitation (low frequency richness). This typically leads to undesirable transient responses during startup. To address this issue, we employed a virtual plant technique, which allows the adaptive gains to be pre-adjusted within the embedded system before connecting to the physical plant. This approach significantly improves transient performance during real operation. Both Typhoon HIL simulations and experimental results obtained from a physical prototype are used to validate the proposed strategies. This work was carried out by: Vinícius Descovi Rodrigues, Maicon de Miranda, Wagner Barreto da Silveira, Jonas Roberto Tibola, Lucas Giuliani Scherer and myself.
