Lucile Ritchie a partagé ceciWhen I joined Entalpic, my first mission was to identify the best market where we could apply our technology. Not an easy job. We looked at more than 10 markets: energy storage, aluminium, green hydrogen. Many were compelling from a climate perspective. But the economics didn't hold: low margins, markets driven by cost. So we flipped the question. Which markets are driven by value? Where is IP on a single discovery actually worth something? That's how we landed on Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD). A process used to deposit ultra-thin films onto surfaces, atom by atom. It's a key technology for semiconductors today, with a path into batteries and catalysis as the field matures. Today, we're sharing the full reasoning behind this decision. Excited to see what we can build in the ALD field ⚛️ #DeepTech #AI4Science #MaterialsDiscovery #ALDLucile Ritchie a partagé ceci🔬 In most materials markets, you compete on cost. In ALD, you compete on precision. Today we're sharing a blogpost on why we decided to focus on Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD), alongside updated white-papers outlining our scientific approach to the field. Over the past year, we evaluated markets across catalysis, batteries, electrolysis, mining and others before deciding to focus on ALD. ALD is a process used to deposit ultra-thin films, sometimes one atomic layer at a time, onto a surface. It is a key technology for advanced semiconductors, and is increasingly emerging in battery coatings, catalysis, and other surface-engineered materials. What we were looking for was a market where a single molecule could be genuinely proprietary, where customers had margin to spend on performance, and where the chemistry was complex enough for computational tools to provide a real edge over trial and error. At our stage, we also believe focus matters, and ALD is where we chose to go deep first. 👉 Read the full blogpost: https://lnkd.in/eWHKYxti #ALD #MaterialsDiscovery #AI4Science #ComputationalChemistry #Semiconductors #DeepTech

Lucile Ritchie a republié ceciLucile Ritchie a republié ceciWhat to do when a competitor raises 💰$300M on a pitch deck Periodic Labs announced their mind-bending seed fundraise 1 month ago, here is what we learned over this month at Entalpic: 1️⃣ Check your ego. If A16z just bet big on your field, that’s actually a good thing. It means your domain is heating up : smart money sees potential 🔥. Take a breath and be proud you’re building in a space that matters. 2️⃣ Understand what’s really happening. The team is ex-OpenAI 🤖, super AI-driven, not chemistry or materials focused. From what I’ve heard, the crazy valuation reflects how expensive “acquihires” are in that world. Many US VCs told me they see a likely scenario: being bought by Meta or another giant within a couple of years for billions 💸. 3️⃣ Act accordingly. Big rounds can be both a blessing and a trap. With that much cash, it’s easy to go broad, market everywhere, lose focus. I’ve been there. The best move for smaller players? Focus 🎯. Pick one market, own it, and grow from there. Depth beats breadth every time. 4️⃣ Congratulate them, sincerely. So, kudos to Periodic Labs 👏 for this wild raise. Please, don’t underdeliver : our entire field needs you to succeed 🙏. Let’s push our science beyond skepticism and make this real. Good luck to all of us building the future of materials!

After over two years full of training models and teams, writing kernels and papers, and optimizing for latency and fun, I am beyond excited to announce that Notion acquired ZeroEntropy! We got to know the Notion team when they became our largest customer, using our reranker in production across Notion AI queries. They replaced bigger and more funded competitors, and got an 85% latency improvement on the rerank step while maintaining quality. 🤗 As part of the acquisition, we are open-sourcing all ZeroEntropy models on Hugging Face. We will be sunsetting our product on September 4th, existing customers have been informed and can find migration details in the blog post below. Notion has been one of my favorite products for years, so this feels surreal. Getting to lead the Model Research team there is a whole other level. I’d like to thank warmly our customers, investors, and partners for believing in ZeroEntropy and using our products and models. It’s been our privilege to serve you and work alongside some of the best teams in their respective industries. ❤️ I hope to keep building things you love at Notion.

Yet, they remain one of the hardest phenomena to model, with an immense combinatorial space and complex atomic-scale dynamics. Last week, we had the pleasure of spending a morning with Guillaume Stirnemann’s group at Ecole normale supérieure - PSL Research University, following their recent CECAM workshop on machine learning for chemical reactivity. It was a great opportunity to compare perspectives and discuss how our respective approaches can complement each other. In particular, we presented our new foundation model for atomistic systems (Triforces) and discussed how MLIPs can be integrated into chemical reactivity workflows. We also shared some of our recent open-science efforts around LeMat-GenBench, charge-density prediction, and AI-driven catalyst discovery. Finally, LeMat-Rho was also mentioned: our dataset of inorganic crystal structures with computed DFT properties, including energies, forces, and charge densities. A big thank you to Guillaume and the whole team for the stimulating discussions. It’s always exciting to see different communities converge around the same scientific challenges. We’re looking forward to seeing where these exchanges lead. 😊 #AI4Science #ComputationalChemistry #MachineLearning #MaterialsDiscovery #ChemicalReactivity

Lucile Ritchie a réagi à ceciLucile Ritchie a réagi à ceci✨ 🇰🇷 Ali Ramlaoui and Joseph Musielewicz presented our new machine learning model for atomic-level property predictions, called TriForces, at International Conference on Machine Learning - ICML 2026 in Seoul! They brought two main additions to classic ML Interatomic Potentials (MLIP) to make them more generalizable and easier to fine-tune. → The first one was a self-supervised pre-training approach to obtain more meaningful representations, instead of training directly on energy and forces. → They use separate streams to learn composition, structure, and how the two interact before combining them, making the resulting representation easier to reuse across tasks. Beyond presenting the work, what stood out were the interesting conversations. Many people immediately recognized the difficulty of jointly training on energies and forces, and there was strong interest in self-supervised learning for materials. 👀 Keep an eye on Entalpic’s LinkedIn for any future events where you can see our team explain our program in detail!

Lucile Ritchie a réagi à ceciLucile Ritchie a réagi à ceciToday, we’re announcing Syntetica's $30M Series A led by Bpifrance Green Venture, with strategic participation from lululemon and MAS Holdings! Louis and I started Syntetica with one conviction: industries built on a century of fossil fuels can become circular. Without ripping up their supply chain. Without paying massive premiums. The first material we chose was nylon. Our answer was the world’s first green chemistry process that recycles both Nylon 6 and 6.6 at the same time. I won’t pretend getting here has been remotely easy. There have been moments of real self doubt. But our conviction has only grown day by day, reaffirmed by our partners at lululemon, Groupe ETAM and MAS Holdings building with us. This raise funds the roll-out of a Commercial Demo facility, built at the Michelin Innovation Park - Cataroux which will recycle millions of garments a year into industrial volumes of virgin-quality nylon. Tomorrow’s materials will be made from today’s waste. Welcome SWEN Capital Partners, EIC - European Innovation Council and a big thank you to EQT Ventures & Growth, 1st Kind, Volta Circle, MILINVEST, Athletico Ventures and Paul-Henri Mathieu for your continued support. Lucile Ritchie a réagi à ceciLucile Ritchie a réagi à ceciPrior Labs + me = 1 year One year ago today I left Paris for Berlin, and most of my friends didn’t understand what I was about to do in “la tabulation" (to quote them). Honestly, neither did I fully understand what the year ahead would actually look like. Turns out my job was a bit "everything, everywhere all at once": experimenting, improving, scrapping. All while watching more users show up week after week, the team shipping better models like there’s no tomorrow, and use-cases spanning early cancer detection, rail predictive maintenance (and sometimes horse race betting...) As a former VC, I watched "foundational model" become a catch-phrase everyone threw around. Here, I get to watch it become something people actually build their work on. None of that happens without the right people. Working among some of the smartest, most driven people I've met, that's what actually made the year. Now we're entering a different chapter: hiring across ALL roles, Berlin, Freiburg, NYC. If you're wondering whether there's a fit for you here, there probably is => https://lnkd.in/eGynzjA4 Here's to year 2 🫶

SMB Growth Architecture — What the Market Data Reveals Every week, I track three layers of signals: 📍 market demand — what’s being funded and built, 📍 hiring data — which functions companies prioritise, 📍 performance metrics — how CAC, NRR, and payback evolve. The patterns are consistent. 1️⃣ Demand is shifting — SMBs replace “growth” roles with efficiency and enablement: RevOps, CS Ops, BI, and Financial Control appear earlier in hiring cycles. The market signals a move from scale to control. 2️⃣ Metrics stabilise but margins erode: – CAC payback extends from 9 → 13 months. – NRR fluctuates between 95–105 %. – Gross Margin compresses by 3–5 p.p. due to under-optimised handoffs. Companies grow, but cash conversion slows. 3️⃣ Process visibility becomes the new differentiator. The best-performing SMBs don’t chase volume — they connect: – Marketing → Sales → Finance via shared RevOps logic, – Product → CS → BI via feedback and NPS retention loops. When those systems align, growth compounds instead of resets. November focus: How SMBs turn operational alignment into measurable profit. — Which metrics actually predict margin, not just revenue. — How RevOps and CS Ops loops shorten CAC payback. — How BI visibility exposes where unit economics leak. Because at SMB scale, profitability depends not on speed, but on precision. 👉 Question: What’s the weakest link in your system right now — payback, NRR, or process visibility? #SMB #GrowthArchitecture #RevOps #CustomerSuccess #UnitEconomics #Payback #NRR #Profitability #SystemDesign #B2B #Leadership

Today we’re launching GPT-5 — our most capable model yet for businesses and developers. It’s the smartest coding model we’ve ever built — state-of-the-art on real-world software engineering benchmarks and cutting tool-calling errors in half compared to other frontier models. Early partners are already putting it to work in production in the OpenAPI API: - GitHub is bringing GPT-5 to Copilot, empowering millions of developers with stronger reasoning across large codebases. - Amgen is exploring how GPT-5’s reasoning can accelerate discovery and improve decision-making in complex research environments. - Cursor has made GPT-5 the default for all new users — it catches deeply-hidden bugs, runs multi-turn background agents to completion, and is now their daily driver for scoping, planning, and end-to-end builds. - Lovable is using GPT-5 to help millions of users generate advanced applications from a single prompt and debug complex issues in large projects, excelling at reasoning over entire codebases. - BBVA reports it handled strategic tasks in hours that would have taken weeks, with standout speed and accuracy — even in Spanish. These stories capture what excites me most: GPT-5 is not just more intelligent, but more reliable, steerable, and adaptable to the unique workflows of every customer. Can’t wait to see what the wider developer community builds next. https://openai.com/gpt-5/
