Nicolas Buquet a partagé ceciAfter more than four incredible years (with a brief intermission), I have decided to embark on a new chapter in my career and will be leaving Scaleway to explore new opportunities. Looking back, I am filled with pride and gratitude for the journey we’ve shared. Building the Platform Engineering team at Scaleway has been a truly rewarding experience, and our collective achievements have been remarkable: • Successfully hiring and onboarding over 60 talented Platform Engineers • Cultivating a strong team spirit rooted in trust and commitment (yes, we did!) • Driving a shift toward a more customer- and product-centric mindset • Developing an impressive portfolio of over 30 high-quality services (including Hypervision, Orchestration, Database, Queuing, Observability, and Q/A) to enable our Development teams to focus on their core tasks • Ensuring exceptional high availability and quality across all services • Becoming the first software engineering layer at Scaleway to achieve ISO 27001 certification I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the entire Platform Engineering team and, in particular, the incredible Engineering Managers I had the privilege to work alongside: Julien Andrieux, François Chassaing, Laurent Vallar, Thibaut D., Arthur Andrieu, Matthieu DANDEC, Gaël, and Nicolas Lepetit. Your dedication and talent have been instrumental in realizing our vision. A heartfelt thank you also goes to our exceptional Product Managers —Emmanuelle Desirliste, Elise A. and Diane Sempéré - whose support and collaboration made this journey even more impactful. Of course, I want to thank all the management team at Scaleway for their day to day support: Yann Lechelle, Mickael Marchand, Audrey Pedro, Clément Rochas, Antoine Courouble, Sébastien TUIL, Muriel BOUGEANT, Albane Bruyas, Sébastien Luttringer & Catherine Ferrary Simon. Chez Nicholson Search and Selection, c’est un sujet qui revient désormais dans beaucoup de discussions avec les fonds de Private Equity et les Boards : 👉 Les critères de sélection des CEO sont-ils encore les bons à l’ère de l’IA ? Pendant des années, les investisseurs ont privilégié des dirigeants capables de : lever des fonds,scaler vite, recruter vite, raconter une vision forte. Mais demain, cela ne suffira probablement plus. Les CEO qui créeront le plus de valeur seront surtout ceux capables de : transformer leur business grâce à l’IA, repenser leur organisation, décider plus vite que le marché, combiner vision stratégique et exécution radicale. L’expérience passée ne garantit plus la réussite future. Un CEO performant en 2021 n’est pas forcément le bon dirigeant pour gagner en 2027. Et c’est probablement l’un des plus grands défis de notre métier aujourd’hui. Curieux d’avoir le point de vue des CEO, Founders et investisseurs! J’ai posé une problématique à résoudre pour sortir mon équipe de son contexte habituel, en concertation avec mon binôme Clément RATIER. Pendant 5 jours, l'équipe a exploré une nouvelle fonctionnalité en totale autonomie : compréhension du problème, choix techniques, arbitrages, priorisations… tout. Sans moi ni le tech lead ou le PM de l’équipe pour orchestrer ou commenter. Résultat ? ✔️ Une fonctionnalité supplémentaire développée ✔️ Des décisions assumées ✔️ Une réussite collective ✔️ Des membres engagés Quel beau succès d’équipe ! Well done team ! Piqûre de rappel personnelle : notre rôle d’EM n’est pas d’être un point de passage obligé, mais de créer les conditions pour que l’équipe puisse avancer sans nous.

Ce moment montre une chose importante dans le monde du business. Une négociation n’est jamais simplement une question d’argent.
