Hi, I'm August 👋

I'm an open-source ML researcher focused on compute-scalable methods inspired by the bitter lesson.
I work on flexible, minimally hand-designed systems that lean on scaling, search, and emergent behavior, keeping human input primarily for safety and alignment.

I also spend time thinking about the socio-technical challenges ahead and how we can build aligned, inclusive superintelligences that benefit everyone.
