Horizon

Welcome!

This page provides an introduction to Horizon, the Agentic Innovation Platform for SDV.

The platform addresses prevalent challenges within the SDV development journey by providing:

  • a scalable foundation to accelerate development and significantly reduce wait times
  • a modular approach allowing for a partial and gradual adoption of components
  • an agentic AI framework and pre-built agents to compress R&D timelines further

Vision

Platforms enabling efficient software development shouldn’t be differentiating, the product itself should be differentiating.

Horizon provides an open-source, scalable, cloud-hosted, AI-native and developer friendly toolchain for the development of complex embedded software. It provides solutions for code, build, test and release.

By shifting the focus from hardware-led to software-centric development and enabling Agentic AI in the R&D processes at scale, it aims to drive faster innovation, reduce costs, and improve the quality of software development in the automotive industry.

Initiative

Horizon is an initiative launched by Google and Accenture, poised to revolutionize the embedded software development landscape.

It tackles key challenges in the Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) market, including inefficient and inconsistent toolchains, high scaling costs that limit software development, and a hardware-centric approach that blocks rapid innovation

Streams

Horizon consists of two streams:

  • Android development (AAOS IVI, AAOS SDV, AOSP).
  • Rest of SDV, enabling cloud-based virtual development of complex system-of-systems.
