My name is Aaron and I live in Portland, Oregon. Since 2009, I've held roles as a Research Psychologist, Data Scientist, Software Engineer and Engineering Manager.
- Have shipped code to production in a LOT of different languages, but prefer languages with strong types and good tooling. Currently build a LOT in Typescript because it works everywhere.
- Didn't learn to code until I was 23. My first language was R and I learned it to develop better statistical models for my research.
- Worked as a data scientist before I was an engineer. Built ML models for the DoD back in 2010 before neural nets took over the world.
- Super family focused - raise kids, happy wife, visit family, etc.
- Grew up in small towns in coastal Oregon and rural California.
