Description & Motivation

Goodreads is currently not supported as a built-in social platform. Users who want to add a Goodreads link must use the custom social workaround.

Goodreads is the world's largest site for readers and book recommendations, with over 150 million members. It is especially popular among academics, writers, and researchers — a core audience of themes like al-folio that use this plugin. Font Awesome already provides a Goodreads icon (fa-brands fa-goodreads), making this a straightforward addition.

Pitch

Add goodreads_id as a built-in social platform with:

• Icon: fa-brands fa-goodreads (already available in Font Awesome)
• URL template: https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/%s

Usage in _data/socials.yml would be:

goodreads_id: 123456789-username
