My journey began at age nine—tinkering with GW-BASIC and Turbo Pascal—and has grown into a passion for building robust, networked applications used by people around the world.
- Favorite Languages: Go > Node > Ruby > Python. Applied as it makes sense to the project.
- Other Language Thoughts: Elixir and Lua are interesting. Java is not an appropriate modern choice for developing anything other than Android apps.
- Favorite Databases: SQLite as default. Pocketbase for simple, realtime. Supabase or Postgres for full stack. KeyValue and Flatfiles where it makes sense.
- Web Development: Scalable, maintainable, and user-focused; Bias towards simplicity; Server Rendered > HTMX > SolidJS > Svelte(Kit) > React. Apply complexity only as necessary.
- AI Pair Programmers: Evolving! Gemini 3 Flash, Claude Code, and Nemotron 3 Nano (via LM Studio).
- Crypto and Decentralization Enthusiast: I follow Ethereum, Solana, and other blockchain projects, along with focusing on privacy conscious software.
- Radio Operator: Licensed as N0ZSY (Novice at 8, General Class at 21), with a special interest in shortwave operation and Parks on the Air.
- Musician: Singer and multi-instrumentalist (guitar, mandolin, bodhran), performing folk and indie music at local festivals for nearly a decade.
