While inspecting our server logs, I came across a number of error messages with the following format:

Login attempt with “some-login-provider” provider failed due to unexpected error: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading ‘type’)

This is clearly a bug in our authentication pipeline. We should determine the root cause and remediate. I have seen this in both our SAML and OIDC providers, so it does not appear to be limited to a specific provider type.
