Hi, I'm Felix 👋

Software engineer working across systems programming and backend/infra tooling. I like working in complex systems and making the kind of change that meaningfully simplifies them and makes them more resilient — not just adds another layer. I trust stats and numbers over gut feeling, and I'd rather spend time finding and fixing the root cause of a problem than patch the symptom and move on.

What I work with

Professional

  • Languages: TypeScript, Go, Kotlin
  • Actively used (last years): SpringBoot, Express/Hono, AWS + CDK + CloudFormation, Prometheus, Grafana, SOAP, OTEL, CodePipeline, GitHub Actions
  • Experience with, less recently: Kubernetes, Keycloak, Angular, Svelte, Ansible, Concourse, Python

Private

  • Languages: Rust primarily, also experimented with Haskell, C, Java
  • Currently: agents and agent sandboxing
  • Historically: light embedded work, self-hosting, coding puzzles (Advent of Code, LeetCode)

Highlight projects

PeriodProductTeamRoleHighlights
2016–2020 B.Sc. Information Engineering, dual study program (Studium im Praxisverbund) Security team/CERT, then IDP team Working student / thesis student
  • Dual study program alternating academic terms with business integration phases
  • Several optional additional courses in software engineering
  • Business integration phases primarily with the internal security team/CERT
  • Changed to the IDP team; wrote thesis there on a graph of people trusted to know each other, usable as a source of affirmation for other people's actions as a form of multi-factor authentication
2019–2021 Groupwide IDP for internal users IDP team Core developer
  • Keycloak-based identity provider
  • Go based customer self-service
  • Deployed with Ansible + Kubernetes across private OpenStack and AWS for hot standby
2022–2024 product for car workshops globally as legacy replacement feature team software engineer
  • High business-complexity, high-importance components
  • Migrated from internal app-hosting platform to AWS
  • Simplified logic and remedied technical debt while improving availability and performance
Jun 2024–Dec 2024 product for car workshops globally as legacy replacement feature team Senior sofware engineer
  • Optimized import process for building a current view of data from delta update packages sent by a legacy editorial system
  • Made the view performant and the import process fast and resilient
2025–2026 product for car workshops globally as legacy replacement Platform Team Senior software engineer
  • Standardized AWS CodePipeline abstraction (declarative config, transparent caching)
  • Centralized monitoring and alerting
  • Established operations best practices and post-mortems
  • Early adopter of agentic coding; multiplied it across the org via a shared default opencode setup
  • Worked on making internal business and technical knowledge available to agents
  • Shared learnings and tips for working with agents

Currently exploring

  • Sandboxing and safety boundaries for autonomous coding agents
