I am a distributed database engineer at Apple, building lakehouse systems for the Data Platform team. I currently focus on Apache DataFusion Comet, an accelerator for Apache Spark. This work also has me contributing to Apache Arrow, Apache DataFusion, Apache Iceberg, and Apache Parquet, and I serve on the Project Management Committee (PMC) for Apache DataFusion.

I earned my Ph.D. in Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), where I researched database management systems (DBMSs) with Andy Pavlo and the rest of the CMU Database Group. My work explored operating system and DBMS co-design via safe kernel extension mechanisms like eBPF.

Before my doctorate I completed an M.Sc. in Computer Science, also at CMU. Earlier, I spent over eight years at Western Digital validating storage-device firmware while earning a B.Sc. in Computer Science & Engineering at UC Irvine and Irvine Valley College.
