Can't disable Copilot in github.com #147449
-
Select Topic AreaProduct Feedback BodyCopilot Free has been enabled on my account without my consent. There is no button in the settings to disable it. And it default-enabled "Allow GitHub to use my code snippets from the code editor for product improvements *" which is illegal under EU DSGVO law and also direct violation of my project license. I do not want this Colipot plagiarism machine on my account. How can I disable Copilot in github.com? |

That's not an answer. I'm wondering the same, I do not want this Large Lying Model trying to plagiarize and only make problems bigger, I want it gone, erased from existence. Nobody was given a choice it seems. |

This absolutely should be an optional feature, if at all a "feature". I do not want anything to do with the plagiarism machine. Turn this shit off. |

Even if you disable it, they keep shoving all these obnoxious upsell CTAs about it everywhere. I'm just teaching AdBlock to hide them all to make myself feel better and hopefully mess up some horrible PM's engagement metrics a tiny bit. |

I found a way to disable Copilot on my GitHub account entirely:
Bottom line, of course there is a (hidden) way to disable Copilot, because legally there has to be. It's really shameful that Microsoft is too evil and too incompetent to make this "disable" switch accessible to GitHub users. It's already very intrusive, and illegal under GDPR legislation, to enable Copilot and its data-scraping by default. Noone wants this stupid plagiarism machine. I hope so many users will now complain to GitHub support that it costs Microsoft enough money to be motivated to become a bit less incompetent and add the switch in the settings eventually. |

I accidentally tapped a fucking button in the app and it got re-enabled. I created a new ticket and it's still not disabled. Github, fix your shit. Remove this cancer. |
