Copilot hides original refactoring menus in vscode, how can i get them back...?

After adding copilot to vscode, I no longer have access to proper refactoring anymore. Mostly the only refactoring menu avaiable says "modify using copilot" and "refactor using copilot". I find these lacking. I want the original options back, how can i do that?

Update your GitHub Copilot VS Code extension to v1.138.0 or later. In my case, simply updating restored the standard VS Code refactoring options alongside Copilot's

Didn't work for me, I'm on v1.138.0 and it still gives me the wrong menu

I tried various uninstall/install actions of the copilot extensions, but so far lo luck...

✅ Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Open VSCode Settings

• Press Ctrl + ,
• Or go to File > Preferences > Settings

2. Search for “Copilot”

• Use the search bar at the top of the Settings panel.

3. Turn Off Copilot’s Refactor Features

Find and disable the following (if available):

• GitHub Copilot: Inline Suggest
• GitHub Copilot: Editor Services
• GitHub Copilot: Enable Auto Actions

4. Try the Right-Click Menu Again

• Right-click your code.
• You should now see options like:
  • Rename Symbol
  • Extract to Function
  • Move to New File
  • etc.

5. Use Keyboard Shortcut for Refactor

• Place your cursor on a variable or block of code.
• Press Ctrl + . (or Cmd + . on Mac)
• Native refactor options will appear in a menu.

6. (Optional) Disable Copilot Extension

If it's still causing problems:

• Open the Extensions sidebar (Ctrl + Shift + X)
• Search for GitHub Copilot
• Click ⚙️ → Disable
• Restart VSCode
