✅ Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Open VSCode Settings

  • Press Ctrl + ,
  • Or go to File > Preferences > Settings

2. Search for “Copilot”

  • Use the search bar at the top of the Settings panel.

3. Turn Off Copilot’s Refactor Features

Find and disable the following (if available):

  • GitHub Copilot: Inline Suggest
  • GitHub Copilot: Editor Services
  • GitHub Copilot: Enable Auto Actions

4. Try the Right-Click Menu Again

  • Right-click your code.
  • You should now see options like:
    • Rename Symbol
    • Extract to Function
    • Move to New File
    • etc.

5. Use Keyboard Shortcut for Refactor

  • Place your cursor on a variable or block of code.
  • Press Ctrl + . (or Cmd + . on Mac)
  • Native refactor options will appear in a menu.
