Where will I see the MCP registry in VS Code #178315
-
Select Topic AreaQuestion Copilot Feature AreaCopilot Enterprise BodyIn our copilot policy for the orgnization, MCP has been enabled. Now we specified the MCP Reistry URL as : https://registry.modelcontextprotocol.io/ But I cannot see the MCP servers from this registry in VS Code (1.1.05). I checked the "Extensions" tab. It has MCP servers section. But it shows MCP servers from GitHub MCP Server Marketplace. So the question is where should I see the MCP registry in VS Code? |

GitHub Copilot in VS Code currently displays only the MCP servers from the GitHub MCP Server Marketplace in the Extensions tab. Even if you enable MCP in your organization’s Copilot policy and specify a custom MCP Registry URL (such as https://registry.modelcontextprotocol.io/), the VS Code client does not yet expose those registry servers in the UI. At this stage, custom MCP registries are supported for organizational configuration and policy enforcement, but not yet integrated into the VS Code marketplace view. You can verify that your registry is active by checking your organization’s Copilot policy settings on GitHub, but you will not see those entries listed under MCP servers in VS Code until full client-side support is released. |

Thanks @Aqib121201 and @hogan-tech for the answers. I guess we can just mark one comment as answer, so will just do it as both are same. |
