Starred repository not saved in custom Star List

When I star a repository and add it to one of my custom Star Lists, it initially appears in the list. However, after refreshing the page, the repository disappears from the list — as if the action wasn’t saved.

🔁 Steps to Reproduce

• Go to any repository and click Star.
• Add it to an existing or new List under “Stars”.
• Refresh the page or reopen the Starred Repositories page.
• The repository is no longer in the selected list.

💥 Expected Behavior

• The repository should remain saved in the list after refreshing the page.

🧩 Environment

• Browser: Microsoft Edge
• Occurred on: github.com

📝 Additional Context

• This behavior is reproducible across multiple repositories and persists even after logging out and back in.

I first observed this behavior on Thursday, Nov 6th. I am still experiencing it today. I can select an existing list, but once I refresh the page, it becomes unselected.

I am running Vivaldi 7.6.3797.63 on Windows 11.

Still happening as of Nov 14th. Looking at the Network tab, nothing triggers when selecting the checkbox for the custom list.

Running Firefox 145.0 on Windows 11,

same here. Can't store. creating new list also didn't help. BUT when i create a new list on directly on the repo I want to add on to the list, that first time it works. but not when I want to add any other repos

this is very popular feature used by power users, what is taking so long for the @github team to take action and fix it?

did someone just vibe-coded the frontend and removed the tests along with it?
