GitHub Education application keeps getting rejected #179877
-
Hi everyone,Hello, I am trying to reapply for GitHub Education but for two months now I have been unsuccessful. Presently I am down to two reasons for rejection: Reason(s):My full name in billing information matches the name in the document, and the document is in English and contains the name of my university, faculty, degree, major, year and grade average. Because it also contains my PIN I will not attach it here, but I can assure you the document contains everything the submission form asks for. My school ID is not dated which is why I'm using a dated document instead. The problem may be that the document I am using lists my university and then faculty, and the automated system may only want one of those, not both one after another. I suspect the problem is also that I have a special character in my last name that the automated system is having trouble with. Additionally, the campus location information for my college is wrong, and no matter what I do I am marked as not being on campus. I've submitted a ticket about this but they just said to reapply and closed it. What I've tried so far:
Obviously none of these worked, so I decided to come ask here. I hope someone can share some advice on what to do next! Update:I am now down to one reason: I guess changing my last name to not have the character worked, but now I still have the problem of my school name "not being on the document", when it is. Again the issue is probably that I most recently applied listing myself as a student of my faculty, but the document lists both the university and the faculty, which may be confusing the system. Unfortunately I don't think there is anything I can do myself to fix that. |

Hi @rresidentalien, Make sure to fill in your billing info and GitHub profile with your full name exactly as it appears on your academic transcript. Then log out and log back into GitHub before reapplying, because the application system gets stuck in a loop even after the required information has been updated. If your transcript isn't in English, submit a photo of the original next to an English translation. For further reference, take a look at this discussion, as this user solved it by doing this: #164204 If you still get rejected, submit the application using another device, such as a smartphone or another PC. If none of the above works, I recommend you contact support by opening a ticket here, select " |

Update: I had to open a support ticket to get this fixed, but then I was able to successfully apply for GitHub Education. Also, special characters like šđčćž in your billing information may be causing an issue - once I swapped that out for standard English alphabet letters, it worked. |

Update:
The system was indeed getting confused that I am listed as a student of both my university and my college (faculty). So if you are in Croatia, like myself, consider that this may be causing an issue if you're getting this:
The image you selected does not appear to contain your school name. Your complete school name must appear in your document, not only the school logo. You may include multiple documents together. If your official document is not in English then you may photograph the original next to an English translation.
