Hi everyone,

Hello GitHub Education Support Team,
I recently applied for the GitHub Education student/teacher discount, but my application was rejected with the following message:
We were unfortunately not able to verify your academic status. Please address the following issues and apply again.
I have already submitted my teacher qualification certificate and college professional title certificate completely as required. Both certificates clearly show my full name, the official name of the educational institution where I serve, and the official issue date. Meanwhile, my billing information is fully consistent with the information shown on the above certificates.
I have double-checked all my submitted materials, and there is no mismatch or missing information. Could you please manually review and verify my application information again?

If your GitHub Education application was rejected due to inability to verify your academic status, it usually means that the system couldn’t confidently confirm your affiliation with an eligible educational institution—this can happen even if documents were uploaded correctly.

Here are a few things you can try:

Ensure documents meet all requirements
Must be recent (typically issued within the last year)
Clearly show your full name, institution name, and date
Should ideally be in English or include an official translation
Use an official institutional email
Applying with a verified academic email (e.g., ending in .edu, .ac, etc.) significantly improves approval chances
Check document clarity
Make sure images are high resolution, not cropped, and all text is clearly readable
Reapply carefully
Double-check that the information you enter exactly matches your documents (name format, spelling, etc.)
Contact GitHub Support directly
If everything is correct, the best next step is to submit a request through GitHub Support and ask for a manual review. Include your previously submitted documents again for reference.

Unfortunately, community members don’t have access to review or approve applications directly, so only the GitHub Education team can resolve this after verification.

I understand what you mean, but the issue dates of both the teacher qualification certificate and professional title certificate are generally more than one year ago. What other documents can I provide to prove my status as a teacher?

I would like to second this. I also applied as a teacher on for github eductation benefits. I teach an undergraduate ML course at Saint Peter's University and I submitted a photo of a letter from the school confirming this with dates and my full name. I got an email stating that they could not verify my application and the reapply link is broken. There was no place to upload my document other than using my webcam to take a picture. This system is very broken.

I'm not in any university cause no money for university but I tried my secondary school exams card it's still on pending till September 21st 😪 and I really needed this... The duration is so Long. Please
