What is the bug or the crash?

I have a project that include 2 Postgressql layers that are having live data added to them. I need these to refresh at a set intervals- it is currently at 5 seconds. When you apply the rendering to the layer it works but as soon as you close the project and re-open it, it stops working. My colleagues have the same issue. I have saved the style as default but it has not fixed the issue. Any help/ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks
