Edit layer properties of an invalid layer (broken source) is not working #66324

What is the bug or the crash?

When editing the properties of an invalid layer the changes are not taking into account

Steps to reproduce the issue

How to reproduce:

1. Open a project with an invalid layer (for conveniance this project have invalid layer CH (online).zip )
2. Open the properties window and edit some of them e.g elevation, style (for style it only fails when editing from the properties window and not from the layer styling panel)
3. Click "ok" or "apply" then close the window
4. Reopen the properties windows, the changes have not been made, and there is no "*" in front of the project name in the title bar
