Netcat is a highly useful tool for testing connectivity. As a result it makes sense to inclue this in the docker images. It also enables testing UDP connections which enhances arewedown.

Adding netcat enables checking UDP ports using a command such as the following for OpenVPN

/usr/bin/nc -v -u -z -w 3 <host> 1194
