I am using a MBP connected to an ultrawide monitor with the laptop open so I can use the TouchID key. I have the screen mirrored so the cursor doesn't wander off the side of the monitor. When I'm attached to the external monitor, I want to be able to control its brightness without also affecting the laptop monitor (which I set to low so it isn't a distraction). But then when I detach from the dock, I want the brightness keys to alter the laptop screen. Am I missing a setting? It seems that I can either control both together or e.g. just the external display, which means that the brightness keys stop working (on the laptop desplay) when I'm disconnected. I think the setting I want is something like 'Adjust brightness on the primary display' (ignoring any mirrored ones) |

Hi there - you should be able to turn off brightness control for the built-in display or disable keyboard control for the display. But the best practice to turn-off the built-in display is to soft-disconnect it (use the toggle in the display's header). You can also configure the app to automatically disconnect the built-in display when an external display is connected. |
