I know I’ve been pretty quiet lately - no big announcements, no year-end recap, no “new year, new me” post. Life’s been busy… but in a good way. Together with my amazing team, our stakeholders and great partners, we’ve been heads down delivering experience optimizations (big and small). And the best part? We’re just getting started. Things are about to accelerate 🚀 That brings me to this post: we’re expanding. I’m looking for someone ready to take our omnichannel guided selling ecosystem to the next level. I won’t overload this post with details, but if you have experience in building consumer-facing experiences (preferably in B2C/D2C) and the below words sound familiar: - Web/app analytics (GA4, ContentSquare) - UX/UI - Digital merchandising - Excel (LOL) …and you’re excited about creating experiences that help customers easily discover the right products *no matter their starting point or channel* - we should talk. What’s in it for you? 🚀Real ownership (no babysitting) + the freedom to actually do something with it 🔍 The tools, data, and space to explore, test, and prove what works 🤝 A sharp, no-ego team that knows how to build and have fun doing it 🛍️ Products and experiences you’ll actually be proud to put your name on Feel free to reach out directly if you’re curious, and as always - appreciate you spreading the word 🙌

Rodger Buyvoets heeft dit gedeeldFor the past decade, we’ve been obsessed with one question: What makes people click, buy, and act? When I started Crobox, the goal was to build the most persuasive messaging and digital experiences that drive online behaviour. Joris Fonteijn and Patrick Oberstadt, both trained in social psychology spent years testing, experimenting, and applying behavioural principles across product badging, ads, email, and shopping journeys. Along the way, we built a collection of everything that worked (and a lot that didn’t). Today, we’re opening up that treasure trove of persuasion techniques to everyone. From Social Proof and Scarcity to more advanced concepts like Loss Aversion, you can now explore over 100 principles and 1,000+ ready-to-use examples. Each backed by research, explained in plain language, and paired with prompts to help you apply them instantly. Because the best salespeople don’t just listen, they know how to persuade with purpose. Now, anyone can do both. Explore the library for free, sign up for the prompts : https://lnkd.in/exn5PRyg

Rodger Buyvoets heeft dit gedeeldToo many companies and founders are building a fancy wrapper around AI for their current solution. New AI features alone won’t save your company. Seth Godin says it best: “If you find yourself saying, ‘I just need to get the word out,’ you haven’t done the hard part.” Strategy isn’t about short-term wins. It’s about who you serve, what change you create in this new environment, and how to build systems that compound over time. This episode with Seth Godin & Tim Ferriss is a must-watch for any founder working on their AI approach. It’s not about AI at all—that’s what I like so much about it. https://lnkd.in/ekxcZKRv

Rodger Buyvoets heeft dit gedeeldThink back to the launch of the iPod in 2001. Apple could have marketed it with technical specs: “5GB hard drive, MP3 player.” But they didn’t. Instead, they told a simple, human story: “1,000 songs in your pocket.” Revolutionary. Why? Because it translated complex technical features into an emotional benefit that resonated with people. Suddenly, the iPod wasn’t just another MP3 device—it was freedom, convenience, and joy, all in one. With many of the brand we work with, the same principle applies. Brands are so focused on features that they forget the consumer doesn’t speak ‘tech.’ They don’t care about “AI-powered” or “xyz techology” What they care about is: • Will this help me make the right choice? • Will it make my life easier? • Does this product fit my needs? We’ve made it our mission to bridge this gap. Through our Humanised Taxonomies, we transform technical product data into consumer-friendly language that speaks to real people. • Instead of saying a shirt is “made from 100% combed cotton,” it becomes “extra soft and breathable for all-day comfort.” • Instead of listing 10 bullet points about running shoes, we highlight what matters most to the shopper: “Perfect for long-distance runners who want extra support.” This shift isn’t just about simplifying language; it’s about understanding what the shopper actually cares about and needs. By doing this, we’re solving one of the biggest challenges in eCommerce: choice overload. The lesson here for brands in eCommerce is simple: Don’t drown your customers in technical data. Tell them the story behind the product. Because today, the brands that win aren’t the ones with the best tech—they’re the ones who can communicate the value of that tech to their customers. So, here’s my question for you: How are you simplifying your brand language for your customers?

Rodger Buyvoets vond dit interessantRodger Buyvoets vond dit interessantAfter more than ten years, it’s time for a new chapter for Love Stories in Belgium. When I started Love Stories, I wanted to build a brand that stays close to women. The same goes for the way we work with our retail partners. That’s why I’m incredibly happy that, from today, we welcome the five Belgium Love Stories stores in Antwerp, Bruges, Ghent, Knokke and Leuven under our own wings. With these five stores added, Love Stories now has 15 company-owned stores. A wonderful milestone for a brand that once started with one idea in Amsterdam, and above all, a strong foundation to build on. Our wholesale organisation is also getting a new structure. Together with One Agency, we are bringing the Belgium market closer to Love Stories. For our 40 points of sale, this means one particularly important benefit: the right collection, at the right time. Just as it should be. Because no matter how beautiful a collection is, it needs to arrive in stores at the right time. With this step, we are shortening the lines of communication, allowing us to move faster and building an organisation that matches the ambitions of Love Stories as well as those of our retailers. I’m also incredibly happy that the familiar store teams will remain part of Love Stories. Their commitment and knowledge of the market are invaluable and provide an important foundation for everything we want to achieve in the years ahead. Belgium has always been a special market for us. I’m incredibly excited to continue building the future of Love Stories together with our customers, partners and team. We’re only just getting started. #zetmop #headfirst #fietsveiligheid

Rodger Buyvoets vond dit interessantRodger Buyvoets vond dit interessantFOUNDERS: WHAT KIND OF FUCKING MORON SIGNS UP FOR THIS?!? VC was already a horrible deal for the Founder. If this is how the game has changed, I am even further emboldened that the bootstrapped path is the best path for MOST people in this game. Unless what you do is highly capital-intensive, you should avoid this “changed game” like it’s the plague. The VC game was already bad: a 90% chance you'd kiss a decade of your life goodbye and walk away with nothing but an education. This new game is meaningfully worse in terms of probability-weighted financial success for YOU, the Founder. I post here because I want people to realize that what I do is an option. I didn't know it was possible until I found a podcast episode in 2017 with Ross Andrew Paquette from Maropost, who dropped enough info for me to back into the fact that he had a $30m ARR biz dropping $20m to the bottom line, and he owned all the equity. I had two epiphanies that day: 1/ that seemed like a better life for the founder than any other SaaS I had heard of, and 2/ it seemed much more attainable than hundreds of millions of ARR. So I became obsessed with Ross, tried to figure out how he did it, copied what made sense for my business, and fast forward 10 years and we're not quite there ($32m ARR, $15m run-rate profit), but we're close, and I'm more optimistic than ever about growing our profitability. People always ask me what mistake I see young Founders make the most. It’s raising money, and it’s in two different situations. Situation 1: they're at $1m ARR, growing 2-3% per month, and think money will speed that up. It won’t. ZERO percent chance. The only thing that speeds up a startup at that stage is more disruptive product + more disruptive marketing. Neither has anything to do with money. Yet they raise from people who think or say they are VCs, and enter the world of pain of the treadmill of capital without growth. Situation 2: getting to $10m ARR quickly and raising, thinking your TAM is bigger than it is. I made this mistake, but thank GOD we were so profitable that I didn’t actually raise, I just grew my team from 13 to 60 in 60 days, burned through the TAM in 9mo, hit a wall at 100mph, and for the second time in my career fired everybody I hired in that delusional frenzy. When you take money at that point, you don’t have that option. You are forced to try to widen the TAM, you build a bunch of shit no one wants, and you enter the world of pain of the treadmill of capital without growth. I want to be your Ross Paquette. This game isn’t easy. VC or not, you have to create disruptive products with disruptive marketing to win. That’s the only way you’ll grow. So, WHY NOT do it without selling your soul to a game you only have a 10% chance of winning? I PROMISE grinding your profitability higher from $15m 12 years into the game is amazing, and you have a WAY higher chance of getting there than going $0-$100m in 9mo. Fuck Lovable. Stay small. And keep building.

#GenerativeAI #SmallModels #Agents #Harness #AIEngineering #ArtificialIntelligence

Rodger Buyvoets vond dit interessantRodger Buyvoets vond dit interessantNew chapter begins! After more than three years at MediaMarkt Benelux, I've joined ASICS EMEA as an E-commerce Specialist - Guided Selling 👟🛒 Leaving the place where I started my career and grew so much wasn't easy. But after my first week at ASICS EMEA, I'm already very happy I took the leap - and super excited about the company culture and the values behind the brand. A big thank you to my former managers, Lucas Moreno and Joren Neef, and to my teammates for everything we learned, built and laughed about together. A special thank you also to Andrey Prokhorov for the trust and opportunity, and to my new team for making me feel so welcome from day one. New company, new challenge and a lot to learn - exactly what I was looking for! 💙

Rodger Buyvoets vond dit interessantRodger Buyvoets vond dit interessantToday...exactly 20 years ago, on 7-8-2006, Christiaan Solcer and I started our first tech company: Midsol. We built dozens of websites, all with one simple goal: generate traffic from Google and monetize it through an affiliate model. No grand vision, no deck, and initially no investors. Just two guys figuring it out. (that logo haha 😅) I still remember us standing at the KVK in Utrecht (the Dutch chamber of commerce), total noobs, still debating the company name on the spot, and realizing neither of us had brought a pen to sign the registration papers. The lady helping us was not amused. One of those many websites eventually grew into something much bigger: Tiqets, which was acquired by Expedia this year and is now one of the world's largest things-to-do platforms. Those first years were awesome as an online entrepreneur: learning, testing, failing a lot, succeeding now and then. Making it up as we went along. After a while we had our first hires and we rented our first office, just slowly building and growing. After 7 years we sold the company and new adventures came on our paths with founding new startups, raising funding, M&A etc. Looking back over 20 years every single milestone holds equal value in my mind from renting that first tiny office, to raising millions of funding, to celebrating MRR milestones, to team retreats scattered across Europe. I am grateful for every step, hence they are equal in value. Without that one step, no next one. I love this industry and how fast it has moved over the past two decades, and it's now only accelerating. Twenty years ago, having a good idea and simply starting to build gave you a real head start. Today, in the AI era, an idea alone is nearly worthless. Execution, and specifically go-to-market execution, is what separates the companies that matter from the ones that don't. The moat is shifting from "what you build" to "how fast and how well you get it into the hands of the right customers." The founders who win the next 20 years won't be the ones with the smartest model or the cleverest feature, they'll be the ones who compress the distance between idea and market to almost zero. Excited about the next 20 years!
