Imphal
Imphal (Meitei: ꯏꯝꯐꯥꯜ, romanized: eem-phaal, Old Manipuri: ꯌꯨꯝꯐꯥꯜ, romanized: yoom-phaal [ɪmˈfɑl] (ⓘ)) is the capital city of the Indian state of Manipur. The ancient Kangla is in the heart of the city, which was the center of administration of many rulers in both Ancient Manipur as well as Medieval Manipur. Imphal and its nearby areas are the primary linguistic zones of the Imphal dialect,[1] which is the standard dialect of Meitei language, officially known as Manipuri language, and is natively used in the region.[2][3][4]
