This article is for administrators.
To set up Gemini LTI™ in Canvas:
- Turn on Google Workspace LTI™ service in the Admin Console.
- Turn on Gemini service in the Admin Console.
- Turn on Gemini LTI™ in Canvas:
- Turn on Google Gemini as an authorized external tool.
- Add Google Gemini to all Courses or a specific Course.
These steps might require assistance from your Learning Management Systems (LMS) administrator.
Turn on Gemini LTI™ as an authorized external tool- In Canvas, sign in as an administrator.
- Click Admin
Developer Keys.
- Tips:
- If you don't have the “Developer Keys” option, you might not have administrator privileges to enable the tool.
- To complete the installation on your own, add Gemini LTI™ as an application to Canvas by Instructure. If it fails and says the key is disabled, you need a Canvas root account admin to complete these steps.
- Tips:
- In “Developer Keys,” click Inherited.
- In “Inherited,” next to “Google Gemini,” click On.
- Tip: To find “Google Gemini” on the list, scroll to or click Show All Keys.
- Copy “170000000001911” to your clipboard to use when you add Gemini LTI™ as an application to Canvas by Instructure.
- Next to "Google Workspace for Education API Key" (ID: 170000000002462), click On.
- Tip: You need to turn on the “Google Workspace for Education API Key” developer key for full functionality. Without this step, automated content importing will fail, and instructors can’t pull course data into Notebooks.
- In Canvas, sign in as an administrator.
- Click Admin
Settings.
- Click Apps
View App Configurations.
- To set up the Gemini LTI™ tool, click App.
- Under “Add App,” in ”Configuration Type,” select By Client ID.
- In the “Client ID” field, enter or paste “170000000001911.”
- Click Submit.
- Click Install.
- In Canvas, sign in as an administrator.
- Click Courses
[Your Course]
Settings.
- Click Apps
+ App.
- Under “Add App,” in ”Configuration Type,” select By Client ID.
- In the “Client ID” field, enter or paste “170000000001911.”
- Click Submit.
- Click Install.
